Acoustic bass has advantages, You can play heavier chords without that muddy sounds you get out of a bass amp, Uh that might be the only advantage really As for people saying it's too quite, let me remind you, AMPLIFICATION WAS INVENTED FOR CROWDS, STOP TURNING YOUR SPEAKERS TO 11 AT HOME, DAMN BRO LOUDER DOESNT MAKE YOU SOUND GOOD. Just like this all caps text. Lmao . Acoustic bass and acoustic guitar, in the living room or on the porch, just two bros chillin with some tunes

I love my Cort acoustic bass guitar. It's my main practise instrument, and I gig with it regularly as well, playing pubs clubs etc. Adding a thumb rest really helps for playability. A good set up really helps, but you can't have the strings too low though, because just like any acoustic guitar, the top swells and shrinks slightly with humidity changes. It sounds excellent with a mic in the studio. For live stuff I use a rubber soundhole plug. I can have it cranked and be standing right infront of my rig without problem...

Ok, here’s a comment I hope Scott gets to read. I had the same model laying around for a year and I just was not enthused. I took a recent look at your video, and this time really studied it hard. Also I have been adding things to my electric bass sound, which certainly helped me with the Cort SJB5F NS (Natural Finish). I wanted to play through a big amp and really push the volume without feedback. I put an inexpensive Screaching Halt Guitar Soundhole Plug. Like you, I turned all the treble off the Fishman onboard EQ, and on your tip-did the same to the GK 1001RB amp. It’s going through a GK 410 cabinet. But this is the biggest improvement that I call my Eureka moment. The bass sounded quirky still-and here’s what helped it out to fantastic bass sound, and I wouldn’t play it again without this. I cranked the input on MXR Bass Compressor up so the LED’s would show a level. On passive instruments you have to do this with the pedal. Then it went into a Joyo Analogue Delay pedal with the Repeat time very minimal with a hot mix on the Repeat itself just to keep barely noticeable. (I got the delay tip also from your video and like you-using the Cort PHASE control on the Fishman controls really adds). Oh, glory what a sound! Scott, like most-I bought this bass and it just had the squeakiest, uneven sound in the world-and feeding back- after many hours of playing it - I hung it on a a wall and it collected dust. Seeing your video again-challenged me to make it sound GOOD and I accomplished this. I hope this comment helps others. Screaching Halt Guitar Soundhole Plug + all Treble turned down on guitar AND amp, Bass increased + Cort Phase on + MXR Bass Compressor + Joyo Analogue Delay into GK 1001 RB amp and GK410 cab.

I just got myself into a band which has more acoustic types of instruments.. Ukulele, acoustic guitar, cello and some sort of enhanced cajon percussion set.. and vocals as well. I just love my p bass, but it's just somehow too thick for those other instruments. It's coming through the mix too much. And so I started to think should I get acoustic electric bass? Maybe it doesn't have such a strong sound. Tbh I just hate that treble piezo sound.. but is there a reason to get one? Does it sit better in the mix with acoustic instruments? And also it would be nice to have deeper analysis from the history of electric acoustic basses and their world.. which type of ensemble do they fit best? Is there some special requirements for suitable amp? What sort of options there are? How to choose proper one? etc. And how they really sound with band when they sound like they should be? Why did they exist? For what purpose exactly? What's the meaning of life? 😅

I have this bass. I love the acoustic sound, but the piezo sounds too raspy to me. Instead, I use a stock Seymour Duncan sound hole humbucking pickup and a Sure SM81 mic at the 14th fret without the on board electronics. It sounds warmer and fatter to me. It's actually a acoustic guitar pickup, but works perfectly with no modifications needed. I might give the sound hole pickup it's own jack on the bass, and make it permanent.
