After MM and Fender basses I bought a Cort Action V Plus (for 200$ new) as a backup bass, but I was amazed of the quality of this most cheapest guitar I've ever played on, eventually I ended up playing on this Cort most of the time and it's become my main instrument !

Ibanez SR505, Lakland Skyline 55-01, and probably G&L M-2500 are all produced by Cort and based of B5 in regards of the woods and the preamp and the pickups (with exception of G&L). They even re-use the control holse drill pattern.

I tried the 5 string version today at my local music store. I was seriously blown away by just how playable it was! Just so amazing and a serious upgrade option for me as I have a Godin 5 string that I have sunk way too much money into and am over trying to fix the issues. Cort have gone up and up ever since I puchased my first guitar from them - an X-TH - and I can't see them ever slowing down! Great products from these guys!

@@basstheworldofficial You guys are doing an incredibly good job, in my opinion. The talking is very pleasant to hear, and keeps the attention of the listener perfectly (while many other reviewers talks too much, wasting a lot of time, they are boring and make a lot of annoying sounds like "tsk" "hum"). The player is perfect too. He can play any technique with huge musicality and groove (while...yes. WHILE other reviewers happens to be a bunch of metalheads that can only play with a pick. Nothing against picks, but picked bass sound is maybe 10% of the sound possibilities on a bass.). Sorry for the length of this comment, I'm just stressed about the lockdown and I needed to express my feelings :-P. Please keep up these wonderful reviews, I love them. Danke schön

@DaxterZA
@DaxterZA 4 жыл бұрын
@@gerard7059 First off, its really an incredible bass for the price, Im really happy with my purchase! But this is literally my one complaint about this bass actually, the string spacing is just not wide enough to comfortably play with slap style. But it might just be me not being that experienced with slapping. The bridge does allow a very small amount of string space adjustment though, but it hardly makes a difference in my opinion. Mine is currently at just over 17mm.

I need to re-install it to add beauty and stability. But if you are not particular of the estetics, you can adjust the strings to get the spacing right anyway instead. Over all.. i like it
@EddieG1888
@EddieG1888 3 жыл бұрын
I got one of these basses sent to check over, and the string spacing was perfect for me (think it might be 16mm at the bridge or close), but the neck was very chunky indeed, and I didn't feel there was enough body at the forearm sculpt and the top half of the body to hang my arm over comfortably and play, because I'm used to Jazz Basses. I felt like my right arm position would need to be like Jeff Berlin's.

Cort as a brand has sort of been considered budget or beginner for quite some time, but Cort as a company makes a massive percentage of instruments sold under other brands’ names. Their manufacturing processes are top of the line, it just comes down to what someone orders from them and the Quality Control performed before they reach the end-user’s hands.

I own an older model Cort B4 and although fit and finish are superb, and it's such a beautiful instrument, I find that the very low frequencies, are just out of control. They produce this fat, mushy sound that creates kind of an aural "fog" which disconnects me from the instrument. When my playing becomes fast enough I find myself making mistakes which I just don't make when playing another bass. The problem is that if I turn down the "low" potentiometer it just thins out and weakens the sound too much - obviously getting rid of the unwanted frequencies also gets rid of useful frequencies as well. The bridge pickup is ok but I don't like bridge pickups in any bass guitar anyway. I'm not up for experiments with aftermarket pickups or preamps - it's just going to go and I'll just get something with a more raspy, mid-oriented tone.

Worth mentioning is that the B4 also comes in a fretless version (B4FL). Believe it or not, I started learning to play bass on the fretless version, as I originally wanted to learn upright bass, but couldn't afford one that was a reasonable quality. I sometimes feel the need to try new stuff that I am learning on a fretted bass, but believe it or not, learning on a fretless from day one has its advantages, though I wouldn't recommend it for everyone.

@@JCurcio my kiesel's cost 2500 plus , are they great...yes, are they worth almost the price of a decent used car? No. My point is guitars/bass , in general , are way overpriced. No production guitar anywhere should cost more than 1k, no custom shop anywhere should cost more than 1500. Dont believe me? In the S Korea world music factory (the best foreign maker, bar none) it is rumored that they can make a premium , strat style guitar for . . . 30 USD. Guitars, particularly solid body electrics, dont cost squat to make. The technology is not rocket science. Modern manufacturing paired with low cost (cort has been accused of essentialy slave labor) asian labor means guitars cost very little to make. The smart gear head shops used and knows where and what to look for. You can buy premium, american made and custom shop instruments all day any day for around the 1000 mark. Tomorrow I have a custom shop carvin ns1 with AAAA flame top (real top , not veneer) fancy everything, ect coming that cost little less than 1000. Save the extra cash and take 1000 bucks and a little knowledge and get a upper level, custom shop quality instrument. On no planet is this cort bass worth 600 usd, it just isnt.

I have an older C5Z. And its a lovely bass BUT my two main gripes with it seem to be carried over onto this newer model. 1) The string spacing is pretty tight. 2) The position of the volume and blend knobs is just too close to the strings / pickups for my liking and I often knock them with my hand depending on what / how i'm playing.

Anyone know the nut width? I’m guessing 1.5” / 38mm on the 4 string model, but it’s not listed on Cort’s website.
