The guitar world's best kept secret... That's why I have 3 of them. Two HBS II (one with 11s on them tuned down to D) and one (black) HBS 1. They are GREAT and affordable. Unfortunately they have been discontinued after Hiram died.

Ginger Beer how do the new ones compare to the old Hiram model?
@leventrock635 жыл бұрын
@@csn-audio Sound is the same, but an old Korean's body wood and relic work is mostly better than Indonesian one.
@gingerbeer9143 жыл бұрын
@@csn-audio The old HBS is NOT "aged", so the finish is high gloss black like a Fender or a piano and the hardware is shiny chrome (If I remember it well it came standard with straplocks, which the HBS II didn't), whereas the HBS II has an open pore satin finish, it's BURNED ASH and all hardware is AGED, So the HBS is "classy" like a black piano and the HBS II is a "workhorse". Both instruments are really nice and among the best solid body guitars that Cort made under its own brand. The finest IMHO was the S2900.

@@leventrock63 Have you EVER seen one from Indonesia??? I don't, and I have three of them (ALL FROM KOREA).

@@gingerbeer914 I saw İndonesia one so many years ago. I thought my Korean guitar was a bit better because of wood and work quality!

Does anyone know the difference between the HBS-1 and the HBS-II possibly aside from the country or origin (Korea vs. Indonesia)
@ChristopherDowning3 жыл бұрын
Yep Korea and then Indonesia. And the first ones from Korea were pretty straight up guitars whereas the II was sort of singed swamp ash - like a blowlamp had been run across it, and the hardware had a sort of aged quality about it. The pups were Mighty Mites and most of those on the ones I've seen have been swapped out. It's quite a guitar - birds eye maple neck, nice medium frets, about 9.5 radius, a swamp ash body, and a Cort trem that works OK . Tuners are Cort I'd guess but they are fine.

@@ChristopherDowning I have NEVER seen a HBS or HBS II from Indonesia. Mine are all from Korea. I just looked and the one from 2006 says "Made in Korea" and after 2008 they were discontinued. Steve Brauner sayd "POSSIBLY aside from the country"... but I doubt that the country EVER played any role, since as far as I know the HBS II guitars came all from Korea.

@@gingerbeer914 Yep I've got one here - it's the second version after the Korean production finished. Not as tidy as the Korean ones as they decided to give it a burnt wood look. But same birdseye neck and ash body.
