I'm one of the disabled people Grey means where "health" takes up a lot of time. I don't know whether Grey will ever read this, but I'd really like to encourage him and other people in similar situations to think of resting as an investment in having more energy in the future. Right now your body is forcing you to rest, because you absolutely must. You are seeing that as wasted time. It isn't, it is absolutely necessary downtime for system repairs. Your body needs to rest so that it can recover. Time spent resting is positive time put towards improving your health, like exercise was before you got sick. If you allow yourself to rest, and don't immediately push yourself to work as hard as possible, you will start to get more energy. As you start to get more energy, build up the amount of activity you do /very slowly/. More slowly than you want to. Being patient and persistent in resting is an investment in continuing increase your health.

I really like the way you put that. It makes a lot of sense to me and why a lot of people seem to get burnt out so often. I’m gonna save this for sure lol

i had that brain not talking to my lungs thing after a really bad respiratory infection before covid happened. it took a long while to, in a sense, trust my body to let myself breathe properly. i would have to calm myself down and practice deep breathing. also babystepping cardio exercises helped.

COVID is a weird lottery and if you get "lucky" you suffer badly from it. I stayed clear of it for a long time but I still got it it around the delta / omicron time. I am young, not overweight, reasonably fit and fully vaccinated and boosted. I got it at a party where everyone was tested except for one girl (which we didn't know at the time). The next day she tested positive and I started self-isolating. The next day I felt fine. The day after that I had a slight headache but I didn't think too much of it as headaches happen all the time and I kept testing negative. I was a bit sickish on the day after that but I still managed to work (not very well though). The day after that I had a head-splitting headache. I couldn't look at screens and I tested positive. This started a week of coughing, sleeping, eating and more sleeping to keep the headache away. After walking up the stairs I had to sit down as I was just shattered. After my quarantine period and I started feeling better (a week after testing positive) I still struggled and was quick to tire and coughed all the time (my lungs felt like they were full of gunk). I wanted to go shopping by bike but I just couldn't make it to the shops. For a week my lungs still burned if I biked to work or the supermarket. A week more and my stamina was still rubbish. After another week I started feeling normal again and wouldn't get tired that easily. The fact that I was not in a risk group and felt the sickest I have ever felt tells me that people who claim it is just a cold clearly don't know what they are talking about.

“The” or should we say “a” Me, Myke centered episode. I initially listened to CORTEX due to Grey’s participation since I enjoy his neurotic, possibly, psychotic, overly obsessive ramblings, much like the ramblings of those who “notice” someone or something wrong on or in the Internet. But I now also enjoy Myke.

51:00 didn't the NHS publish on the case of a woman testing positive for 70 days straight? It's common enough of an occurrence, I feel it's mentioned as rarely as covid disrupting bowl movement/causing stomach ache.

May your trend line be increasing positively towards recovery and the covid test results stay negative. I have not had covid yet, but before covid, I have had Mono 2x and I developed some crazy food allergies which have completely changed how I have to work. The inching of 1% per day when previously the 10% would be just one day just hit me hard. Work one day to have 2 days of recovery. And brainfog. As an academic during my medical times and still, it is hard because I have learned that in case I get brainfog I literally have to have everything written down because my brain just won't remember anymore at any time I need to remember something. I am currently deciding between going back for my PhD to become a permanent academic versus finding a "real job", but if I do go for a PhD, Obsidian is going to be my tool to serve as my literature manager so I can write that dissertation. Regardless, I have found it most beneficial for my mental health to evaluate my productivity not against my optimum self, but against my current self's capacity for that day.

I caught Covid at the end of January. Not too bad, a bit of a fever and some pretty intense body aches for 2 days and 2 nights. However, I'm afraid im experiencing long term effects. I am lethargic at best and exhausted at worst. I've never been like this, and if anything pretty opposite. I'm 46, male 6'5" and 175 lbs.. I know that may seem to be TMI, but it's just to illustrate a relatively thin build which is usually accompanied with a high, busy metabolism.
