Got a 94 zr1 with 20k miles about two weeks ago. Bone stock everything still works, it’s a fantastic car that has grown on my more than I anticipated in only about 100 miles of driving.

You are correct I was born on 82 and now own a 85 corvette..I didn't care for the c4 body style till buying one ,now I am in love with the car

These cars are so slept on. They were performance monsters in their day, and credible performers even today.

My cousin has a ZR1 with a little over 1k on the odometer. I found it interesting that it had an extra key that could dial the power down to 210hp or back up to 375hp

Thank you for sharing. I liked the information and the things stated about 1980's and 1990's cars starting to become collectible. It will be interesting to see what happens with the collectible car hobby.

If we are talking the 1990 to 1995 C4 with the lotus drivetrain, old men remember how bad ass they were new but most of us couldn't afford one. I still can't but I admire those that can. IMO, that is the vette a collector should be buying up today. C4s are a dime a dozen now but the ZR1s were much rarer. Id love to drive one.

Growing up in Sweden the Corvette was always exotic coming from the US. And when formula 1 champions Lotus was sourced to make the Corvette a Porsche killer It was even better. I reallly wanteda Zr1 back then and still do. Will try to find one but difficult here.

Do a piece on the 1996 only C4 with the LT4 engine & maybe the Z51 handling package.

I have a 96 LT-1 with the Z-51 performance package. I tuned the car with JETS DST Tuner Program. Car is much faster and more fun to drive. 🤟

News Flash: Good luck finding ANY ZR-1 for less than $35k! I’ve looked for one recently. I personally love the looks of the C4 - it’s simple & functional.

The ZR 1 is an alternate style Corvette. Wider with a bigger motor... much bigger motor. 175mph average at Le Mans. A C4 LT1 topped out at 150mph. Sort of the same car but not. It think the body change makes it a different car. If you want a C4 get one... a fun fun fun ride even if it is impossible to get in and out of. I've owned many nice cars but none get the compliments like my bone stock unremarkable C4 beater.
@jojokrump1998 Жыл бұрын
Bullshit. LT-1 car doesn't top out at 150. My 94 Z-28 did over that. LT-1 car hit 170 all damn day

The bad part, the Radwood Effect has not applied to these, and I don’t understand why. Parts, and support are readily available, they are not difficult to work on, but no ridiculous increase in value.
@unclefester65012 жыл бұрын
Too many saved. Supply and demand means even 30k mile examples are in the $20k range.
@JohnMartin-uk6bi2 жыл бұрын
@@unclefester6501 while I understand that, please explain the Buick Grand National values, using that logic. I get what you are saying, but honestly, I’ll never understand why the Z is so undervalued. Way more Grand Nationals saved, just as many obsolete parts, ZR1 performance is better. Way higher number of units produced.

Be careful with those : I knew a guy who took one out on a test drive and lost control and hit an oak tree head on at 80mph. Those cars are not made for being driven on 80% of the roads we have. Be careful guys, those cars were amazingly fast.

I worked at a couple of automotive dealerships in the 1990s and experienced a few Corvettes of this generation. The build quality of those Corvettes...was pretty bad with cheap leather, creaky body construction, and loads of low-grade plastics. In contrast, the build quality of all Porsches that I saw was absolutely incredible!
@rotorblade95082 жыл бұрын
yes, but porsche makes the best quality cars of all. Obviously not as refined as a Porsche but my 91 still holds well, has everything functional and all plastics intact (even the plastic connectors that experience high temperatures), the dash also is aviation inspired, those square buttons are similar to airliner cockpits and is very centered around the driver. Plus the plastic/ composite body panels hold better than sheet metal and therefore no rust problems so far. My impression is that is optimized for low cost high performance and durability, especially the drivetrain.
@thenaturecreater89062 жыл бұрын
Yeah but the zr1 stil smoket them to much cheaper price 🤣

Yeah you get what you pay for… Corvette quality peaked in the 60s and 70s from what I’ve heard and seen… during the 80s they got a little sloppy with quality but they were performance bargains… that’s what I’ve always loved about vettes, they were relatively attainable for the average person and not completely out of reach like the Porsche super beetles… tbh I prefer the looks of a vette over any 911 even to this day… and you get a big American v8👍🏽 and not a little 6 cylinder… Murica baby🇺🇸
