An amazing short from Tom DeVille. I love the dark fairytale vibes. Setting is perfect and Maisie Williams is fabulous

LOVED this film so much. No words needed. All visual and emotion. When my father passed, he promised to come back as an Australian Magpie when i needed him most. Sure enough...at my most darkest time...20 years later... A magpie arrived in 2023. I raised that baby Magpie on our acreage. Now i have another! It just arrived at my door. The strangest thing happened only this week. I walked into my bedroom right at the front of the house and there sitting on my bed was the Magpie. Looking straight at dads photo. It was so incredible. No fear! Then it went over to my white wooden cross and knocked on it. (dad held a wooden cross as he was passing) It had to walk right through the house completely unnoticed...to the front and of all the rooms...found mine. Crows and Magpies are so beautiful and so smart.

Lmao you said no words needed and followed that with a novel of words. Lol yup... exactly how I picture the kind of people that like this short. 😂😂

I've done enough research on crows and ravens that at the scene with the worms, I was like "You do know crows will eat just about anything, right? You can just feed them regular food, mostly. They like grapes, unsalted peanuts, even scraps of meat. They're not generally very picky."
@therealJamieJoy10 күн бұрын
But a mother bird teaches her babies to eat, The scene was establishing that she saw herself in the role of not only a protector, but a fiercely loyal caretaker.

Another Omeleto gem featuring an A-list actress. Amazing work by Maisie. Excellent film with no dialogue yet perfectly conveying emotion to the audience. Also, amazing soundtrack music.
@KaronChaproniere13 күн бұрын
The atmosphere of bleak grey winter landscape matched the theme of helplessness perfectly. I was looking for hope through all of Maisie's failed attempts. The twist of the crows helping was a great feeling of redemption. Imprisoning the boys in the cold while Maisie was warm in bed and as disgusting as sucking worms is, her character showed not just ingenuity but a strong determination to do all she could because she could not save her father. Turning into a crow left me hoping for more stories of good verses bad.
@batghost766511 күн бұрын
I thought the same thing when watching this video thinking about the landscape and the ways Maisie Williams tries to escape from possible dangers that come to her , overall it's well made short film from Omeleto.😊!!!!

This is one of my all time favorite short films. The acting, direction, and writing are just incredible. If you like this style, give Tom DeVille's other work a look. Thanks so much for sharing it, Omeleto!

Wow. She has a lot of books and interesting toys. Great actress. Her character is brave and smart and full of empathy. I guess she saw her dad kick the bucket. He looked like a professor. Had a kindly look. The beastly boys got what they deserved, the little snots.

oh that's cool! Also did you know that although this is a bit far fetched in that they flew with her, if you help Ravens or crows, give them bread, food, water, etc. They will remember you and they will be your friend, and on the other hand, if you are mean to them, they also remember that. So be nice to them, and maybe they will bring you something cool if you help them!
@Polychrome120114 күн бұрын
Yep, I did know that. And so does anyone else who read the description. 😝
@85Studios14 күн бұрын
@@Polychrome1201 k lol maybe I should have read the description. I hadn't. I don't ever read descriptions, I like to be surprised I guess. Aww well at least I know that I knew it and wanted to share the knowledge, and I can confirm that the description is truthful if it says that.. I will read it later lol
@TheRealArkness14 күн бұрын
Science fiction, fantasy, fiction, etc. None of it is real. We all know that. But that doesn't mean it can't be created. It doesn't have to be based on something real to be plausible. And btw as for not reading the descriptions and wanting it "to be a surprise", you could just read them after you finish watching the videos. And before making comments

Fascinating video! Very well done. Reminds me of how intelligent crows are; if you feed them regularly, sometimes they'll start bringing you little gifts of small shiny objects. Some have learned to operate automatic doors by flying across the photoeyes, so they can go inside whenever they want. Fascinating birds.

@cwg9238 just because an actor is in a short film does not mean they hit a wall. It means they want to also be part of creating something. It's still acting which is something they love to do. If you have a problem with that, then don't watch them. Simple.

Please don't fret, I'm 100% sure no birds were harmed. It's a mix of live-action and CGI. Also, In England it's against the law to harm animals and this films makers aren't going to film themselves committing such a vile crime.

I looked away when I saw the kid going to shoot the bird with the slingshot, I don't want to see that. I see enough things like that. The world is horrible enough without that. But I don't think they actually would have hurt the bird.

Los of actors love to do small independent projects for the art of acting, usually for free or as a favor to someone involved in the project. In another one of these sorts karen gillan spent her own money to fly out and do the short for free just because she's friends with the creator. Williams here mostly sticks to independent films these days. But she's still actively acting.
