It's hard to imitate him b/c the depth of his playing is astounding. But for me, there are some things that place Corey above the rest is: a) the richness of the chords he plays; b) get into his pedal work. If you want to get people dancing - it's the drive in the base - work the foot pedal, old-school style; c) his phrasing is coherent, whether he realizes it or not; d) his melodies have a groove to them - even when he played it slow at @8:40 - I was still ready to do a slow shout on that. Everything this man plays is remarkable. He gets it.

I get your sentiment, but God gave him his gift to share with the world. His gift is bigger than the 4 walls of the church. As an artist who's been blessed to travel all over the country & world since 13,(40) now, what I tell young artists is don't let the world pollute you. Share your gift, make your money, but stay away from drugs, alcohol, & a lot of foolishness. You can share your gift with the world & not be corrupted by the world. I'm a living example. As long as Cory stays grounded he'll be fine.

I get where your coming from, gifts and callings are without repentence and your gift will make room for you-- i hear you, but one thing that needs to be addressed is that Satan works through music (the chief musician) and as a musician Jamel we know that music is something that you can feel; it brings vibes that are hard to explain; that's why this is the first way Satan reaches the vast majority (through entertainment:) so he uses the gift God gave US to influence the minds and hearts of man; even if you don't drink or smoke..it doesn't change the music you have to perform. Lets be real..if you want to make it out here as a musician, sharing your gift with the world means adapting to its culture..simply put, you have to play what the world wants to hear.

Miguel Sir with all due respect I’m not in agreement with you simply because of the traditional crutch you use with SATAN using music!!!! Get out of the box of accepted thinking sir!!! That’s borrowed consciousness that’s not something you experienced yourself it was taught to you just like 2+2=4 was taught to you!! For example the system you’ve learn math from taught you that 1+1=2 when if in fact you open your eyes 1+1=3 because if two worlds come together they create a 3rd world or what we know as a baby so!!! So please try another approach to This super talented gifted and anointed man about what music he chooses to play. Now if you wanna get biblical Proverbs 18:16 says that a mans gift will make room for him and bring you before great men or some versions might say kings n queens n majesties!!! However my point is that every great man isn’t residing in the kingdom or church as we know it every great man is not wearing a robe toting a Bible n briefcase around. As matter of fact those men have been the underlying causes of musicians walking away from the church or even their faith in God. Because of the experience of hurt no not church hurt but it’s summed up that way because it can’t from church I’m not gonna lay hurt from a clergy totally on the church some of these guys are just downright disrespectful and weak n the only time they feel strength is when the mic is in their hand or they’ve got amour bearers or bodyguards around!!! This isn’t speaking against all clergy either but a great number of musicians that play as u say for the world n don’t play for church but still has a respect for it please before you cast a judgement or light on tryna make his playing for the world a SIN!!!! BRUH spiritually you need to grow up n out of that mindset. If you worked for a car dealership and sold cars to preachers it’s cool you doing a great work you think the company would get upset if right after that you sold a car to your local dope dealer weed smoker pedophile liar or your town whore? Heck naw because it profits the company. Everybody needs n wants a car so. If that’s your line of work n you’re a preacher or deacon at your church I guess u need to put your two weeks in n tell the family we can’t make it anymore ...... I know we thinks so easy to take scriptures traditionally taught to us n bash the next man but take that same scripture and apply it to you n don’t use ......well I’m not a musician to say well it ain’t talking bout me!!!! But you have n are a gift so be careful n cautious on the comments. Let me throw this in I’m not saying it’s concrete that Mr. Henry has left the church or has expressed publicly being hurt by the church I simply used it as an example so before you come at me on that read my stuff clearly SIR!!!! Oh btw HE IS A BEAST IN MY BOOK N THE GIFT CAME FROM GOD WETHER HE WAS PLAYING IN CHURCH OR IF HE WAS PLAYING WITH SNARKY PUPPY OR HIS FUNK APOSTLES THE MAN IS STILL BAD TO THE BONE!!!

@Hola.M.A.R.S 4 жыл бұрын
@@gradysanford2554 Grady Sanford let me start off by saying i enjoyed corey henry and have followed his career ever since his early shedding days, however, i think you missed the point. It's interesting how both of you assumed that i was speaking about church going..church playing etc..i never spoke about playing in the same building we call "church"; the bible specifies that we who have accepted God's gift of grace are now become the children of God (we are the church, not the building). That shows what you guys consider giving your gift to God. No my friend, I'm specifically talking about glorifying God at ALL times, which is what HE commanded..not half the time, but ALL the time (Dt 26:10 Ps.34:1 ) with the same gift that he blessed us with which was intended to praise HIM in the first place (ministering God's grace whither through music or something as simple as our daily actions). Many problems with the building (church) now is that they keep everything (including gifts) enclosed within those four walls, even the gospel and only play holy on Sunday, so its expected that they will show thier true colors at some point. Im sorry if you have been hurt by part time christians) however, they are bad examples of what a true christian should be and shouldnt be used in this conversation (what they did, what they do and how they act, living two lives is a reflection of satan not God). They are only an example of how every single thing we do is going to either give glory to God or take it from HIM, (i.e give glory to satan) especially the way we react to others because it plays a major role in how the world views God. In fact so called "Christians" like them are the reason God is blaphemed now (Rm 2:24.) Jesus said many have crept in unawares to pull many from the faith). So, if we are sharing our gift with the world it should draw the listeners closer to God: by no means should your gift conform to the world because at that point you are no longer leaving room to give Him praise since its impossible to serve both God and man (Mt 6:24). Man standards are not God's standards and if you are sharing your gifts for man's standards then no longer are you in the will of God, but in that of satan because once you conform your making room for those who are lost to remain lost; instead of pulling them out of darkness you're meeting them there to join in (ephesians 6:6-7). All things that we do will glorify someone.. either God or satan, not one thing is unaccounted for (Mt 24:6) There is no such thing as neutral or being in the middle (the bible calls that lukewarm and what happens to those who are lukewarm..well..im sure you know that they are better off being cold). There is NO scripture, or verse that points to the idea that we are to share our gift with the world and conform to it-no my friend we are to obey God and surrender to his will (and His will is that all be saved under the name of Jesus Christ and leave the things of the world behind.) David is a perfect example of allowing his gift to make room for him and was brought before a King as you mentioned: but watch this...when King Saul was tormented with an evil spirit, David was called (By God) to play for him since he was a "cunning player on the harp" as the bible puts it; when David played, the evil spirit would depart from King Saul (1 Sm 16:3). What an honor to play royalty and to be hand picked by GOD Himself, however, he is not playing any kind of music.. here we have this young shepard boy who is now playing for the King, music and songs that glorify God, Psalms, that mention the goodness of the Lord and how rich in mercy HE truly is. This not only shows that your gift will make room for you(Shephard boy playing for a king became the king) but the process (David did it ALL for the glory of the Almighty. His obedience allowed his lineage to be apart of the blood line that brought forth the King of kings: Jesus Christ). It also shows how powerful music truly is at controlling ones moods and even spirits and breaking heavy atmospheres and if played the way God intended. Last point: i have yet to see a musician/singer who is a christian share their gift with the world and not be or conformed by it (to keep it in context we are talking about everyone thats trying to make it big, blow up in the world and achieve fame, wealth and respect..this goes beyond drinking and smoking..that's the shallowest part of participating in the world's ways..superficial really..this goes deeper..we are speaking of the matters of the heart) it is impossible to play for the world and not have to compromise by limiting the amount of praise you give God in your music. The reason why christian musicians need to be willing to change up their ways is because the world does not want to hear about God all the time..better yet they only like to hear about the blessings He offers, but thats about it. Jesus said the world rejected Him so they will reject you too if you choose to follow him (Jn 15:18-20) in all reality the only time mentioned in the bible in terms of sharing something with world is here when Jesus says "And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations." (Luke 16:9) as i mentioned before this shows if you are sharing your gift with world it is to pull them out of the world and into everlasting dwellings. (1 Corinthians 9:22) "To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some." Another example of meeting people to bring them out of darkness and into the marvelous light: not conforming, not compromising, but showing compassion for them. That does not mean please man and give them what they want..no it is intended to bring them in.. they are to be given what WE all need..and that is the saving grace that our Father has provided through our LORD JESUS CHRIST (Salvation). Anything opposed to what i have presented is againt Jesus not me because the bible shows no evidence of conforming to the world or its ways; we are to be a peculiar people, seperated in fact. If you need other references consider Jesus' prayer in garden of gethsemane in John 17:9 and notice this ". I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine." Showing a clear distinction between Christians and the world. To follow Him means to put yourself aside and pick up His cross (Mt.16:4) and be ready to die for His love DAILY. To be friends with the world is enmity against God my friend. Again these are the words from Jesus Christ' own lips and not of my own. All through the bible we are instructed to live a seperated life from the present world; Jesus ate with sinners to pull them out of the world, not to keep them there. And to the Father who has shared access to His kingdom for all who dwell in Him by grace through His Son Jesus Christ be glory, honor and praise now and forever Amen.

just tryin to understand: right pinky generally stays on C, while the other four fingers generally play thirds? (E G, F A, G Bb, etc). The end result of these shouts is so insanely complex that it seems like the way to reach this level is to form "automatic loops" that you don't even have to think about, making the loops longer and longer gradually
