We sing a song at church “I’ll say yes Lord yes”….there’s a part that says “with my whole heart I’ll agree” - it’s exactly the same tune…love how Cory just keeps going up each key adding his own style and embellishments - brilliant 🙌🏾..

Great transcription, but technically the key centers should be G/Ab/A/Bb respectively. The chord progression starts on the IV chord, not the one.

Those Eb diminished chords should be notated as B7b9/D# - since that's how they function. Eb dim. is an enharmonic misspelling. Great transcription otherwise - as usual!
@MooPotPie4 жыл бұрын
@@nezkeys79 I'm speaking in terms of functionality. B7 is the V of iii in C major - and that's how Henry is using it - in a rootless jazz voicing. Agree to disagree.
@alextripp4064 жыл бұрын
@@MooPotPie You're not wrong but calling it D# dim7 and treating it as the viiº7 / iii is an equally legitimate functional analysis.
@@alextripp406 I'm not calling it a D# anything. I'm calling it a B7b9 in a rootless voicing with the 3rd on the bottom. It functions as the V7 of iii, not as the viiº7. The functional leading tone is D#, not B.
@alextripp4064 жыл бұрын
@@MooPotPie I mean we are being pedantic at this point, but it literally does function as the viiº7, which is a secondary dominant function! A diminished 7th chord built off of the leading tone has been used as a functional dominant for centuries of western harmony, thus it's unnecessary to think of it as an inverted rootless b9. How would you analyze the second chord of Ain't Misbehavin'?
