I ran like hell to Jesus didn’t know what else to do… showed me his hands and said I did this for you… and you’ll be the mommy that you never knew. Cause I take broken things… and make them new.

Like the flip side of my life, because my mother was emotionally unavailable my entire life. I can remember, at the age of 5, sitting on the porch, crying from a breaking heart, and begging Jesus to come give me a hug. I knew He loved me, even if no one else did, because we sang "Jesus Loved the Little Children" in Sunday school. Eventually, He got me past the pain.

I thought raw honesty, and vulnerability was lost in Christian music these days- until "to love a fool" came out. Now he's got this new stuff, it's still so vulnerable, and so beautiful❤

He is singing my entire story!!!! Wow, to hear your own story in song, and my dad was a WWII alcoholic vet who never got healing. I hurt many people before Jesus found me in a small dusty parking lot in from of the mission baptist church and led me on a 20 year healing journey.

How is it every single song you write, every set of lyrics, is spot on my life? We must have had very similar life experiences, I think. I'm thankful for this song, and for how real you are through it. I love to sing and write music. I wish I knew how to record any of it because Lord knows it would be good therapy. Sidenote: both of my parents were raging alcoholics. My mother still is. My dad changed his ways in regard to alcohol, became a Baptist and took us to church. He was never a good dad to me, he only hurt me and abused me. I have forgiven him, and we have a good relationship now but I can never forget the hurt. Now I'm grown, 39, and I am a mama of 5, and proud to say I never became my parents. I am so thankful, after trying every worldly vice, seeking love from the wrong things, and doing every wrong thing I could, that I established a strong relationship with Jesus. If I've got nothing else in this world but the love of God, I truly have it all. My marriage is falling apart, but I have Jesus. One of my children that's grown won't speak to me because she thinks I was too strict on her growing up - but I've got Jesus. I am going through some dark times mentally- but I've got Jesus. At the end of the day, every life hurt, every wrong thing I've done, every thing that's been done to wrong me, it's all come to this very moment right here. And I know I will be okay somehow, because Jesus will pull me through. Ive been down and broken, ready to end it all - and He saved me from myself. If I have Jesus, I have everything. There's nothing I cant make it through with Him. When I dont feel loved in any other regard in this life, I remember His sacrifice. And I know without a doubt - I AM loved. Thank you Cory for another amazing song.

Awesome. My life story. I got my dad's anger but I also got his music. I would change 2 words. Instead of ran like hell to Jesus. Ran from hell to Jesus. And instead of you'll be a daddy I'd change it to God saying, I'll be the daddy.

This is a song right on time. My father just had a huge steoke in his sleep. We are not sure if he will ever make it. But oir faith remains in Jesus Christ. The only things I have left of him is the memories on how strict he taught us to follow Jesus Christ. And that is my inheritance. Thamks Cory yet again for a timeless song that brings us back to Jesus.

Came across this song as an ad and had to hear it again. Love the words. God bless your gentle forgiving hard working soul. You took your pain and put it into art for others to relate so they may heal. Keep up your music especially sharing your experiences into songs. God hears you and he loves you so much. Yes your inheritance be to be at peace within and use your voice upon your vessel to help others heal through listening to your lovely voice. Love it and I love you. Much love friend. Keep on singing God I listening I promise you this truth. ❤ He brought your song to me. Thank you. Yes God does make broken things new. While I went through the deepest of pains with heart break a few years ago I remember nights begging God to bring me home and he decided to heal my heart and make it feel brand new and he gave even more love and awakened my spirit with the Holy Spirit for he has shown me he has plans for me to help others heal as well. Bless you. I felt drawn to share this with you and even to those that may read this comment. Imagine God healing your broken heart that he didn't even cause. That is how deeply compassionate, loving, and empathetic he truly is. It's how much he truly cares for us. ❤
