This is like.. visual ASMR. Super relaxing video, it was really interesting as well. I live in Stockholm, which is very spaced out and spacious, so we don't really have a lot of small allies like this. It was really fun to see some pretty murals and colourful details, and I love the way the buildings are so unique to each other. It's like the opposite to our big graffiti tags and uniform, mutely coloured buildings.. very refreshing to the eyes. Can't wait to be able to explore Seoul's streets on my own. :)

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. Just brilliant. Those backstreets are endlessly fascinating and I feel this video will reward many repeat viewings. The fact that you are discovering new things and seem genuinely thrilled by the discovery and we can share in your sense of wonder makes such a simple idea quite compelling. There is always something meditative about walking around quiet streets in the morning before the world is fully awake and your calm voice-over perfectly compliments that. It's amazing how many of the store-fronts on the main streets at the beginning of the video have changed since the Google maps street-views were taken. Thanks again. Your videos are inspiring.

I love these exploratory walks on the backstreets of Seoul. Better than Google street view IMO. I did something similar during my last day in Japan and walked about four square blocks around the neighborhood where I lived for a month. The houses are all beautiful and most of them have little Japanese gardens that are so adorable. Anyway, more power to you, sir. I hope to see more of these walks.
@CoryMay816 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the awesome comment Pam! Your walk around your block in Japan is exactly what got me into doing these walks. I grew up in Japan, and would always explore alleys and little streets to try and find hidden places or shortcuts when I was a teenager in the 90's. I always wanted to capture that feeling of exploring the alleys. So once I had the opportunity to do that with a GoPro in Seoul, I jumped on it right away. I hope you enjoy the rest of the SEOUL WALK playlist, and make sure to check out the VIETNAM WALK playlist as well! ^^

Hey Cory, Yet another interesting and informative video, love it. I relax in the evenings watching your videos and feel like I'm there walking with you. This video is particularly special because that was my neighborhood before our family immigrating to the states back in 1978! Our house was located at the uppermost part of that area, and what's interesting is that my mom told me that Wonhyoro-dong was like the Gangnam back then. In fact, one of our neighbors was/is the daughter of Lotte's founder. Would love to to get together with you and Marie if our schedules permit, as I plan to to do a grand tour of Korea in Spring07. So looking forward to it! Thanks again for posting these videos! Sam

I love this! This video is the closest I will ever get to going here. Can't afford to go anywhere really. I especially like this because you didn't film it in bits and pieces, you know, film 5 seconds then stop, film something else for 5 seconds etc. It was a complete walk of where you're going so it was like I myself was there and that you were talking to me. This was also quite relaxing. Thank you for thinking of this and doing it for your viewers. I really do hope you do more of these....a lot of people like me wonder what the world looks like and can't really go anywhere for financial or physical reasons. Hmm, maybe you can do a separate type of video and title it "Around the World with Cory" unless you got friends who wanna do it with you, then it's "Around the World with Cory and Friends." Oooo, yes please!! 💙 💙

I love this comment!!! Don't worry, though. You'll get to travel one day if you make a little plan to put aside small amounts of money here and there from each paycheck. I promise even just $50 a month put into a savings you don't touch for a long time, will definitely be able to buy you a plane ticket and what not. And yes, these walking videos are meant to be just that... walking. And exploring, in real time, as opposed to edited clips smashed together. I just want people to see parts of Asia the way it really looks as if you were there. I'm so glad that comes across to viewers. ^^ Stay tuned for more walking videos from Vietnam!

I always love seeing the roll-up security doors and garage doors that have the splashes of color every few bars. I wonder about why they're like that all throughout S. Korea, but I never ask because I think deep down inside, I just don't want the answer to be something like "well, there's only one company that makes them and that's the only design they make." lol I also love how the cars there always have the blue door stops attached. Here in the US, people always make their cars JDM or EUDM, but it's rare to see one converted to KDM. Just a few weeks ago, though, I saw a Kia Optima with the KDM emblem, the badge switched to the K5 counterpart, AND with the blue door stops attached. I got a little jealous because that's exactly what I would have done if I had one, but I can't part ways with my JDM Infiniti.

Thank you, I've enjoyed watching all your videos. Your "Korean Street Food: Myeongdong Winter Street Food Tour" is my favorite because there is a lot of action going on, however, your everyday walk through streets videos are interesting also. It's just an idea but I think that you are an excellent candidate for a large production Korean documentary of Korean street food and it's modern developments for the Discovery Channel for western countries. You definitely would want May in it because she is such a warm person. A documentary for couples wanting to visit Korea one day, it would be unique.
@taekim95568 жыл бұрын
I saw your EBS travel video, it was tailored for the Korean market for Koreans only, that's great, but I was talking more international. You and Marie would be perfect because international viewers would receive not total Korean-looking hosts better, it would be in English. You already have many things going for you, you have many very interesting KZbin videos that people would like to experience first hand, but it does not encompass everything, and enough for a large scale production. A documentary has to be very exciting to watch and profitable from its commercials and cable affiliates for it to be a success, and you know it has to be a hit. Since you are already well versed in Korea, I think that it would be easy for you to show the whole world the greatest things of Korea. Here's an example: Korea has one of the best rated airports in the world, you could show its grandness and how easy it is to travel. You could tell your viewers and future visitors how to best go from one great exciting place to the next through its subways and transit system that you explain in ease. Definitely, show the speed of modern development like the city of Seoul itself and a few of the other big cities and its great and unique developments, from a poor to modern nation in a short period of time. Show it from the top of the tallest building, from a moving helicopter during the day and night (night at sunset, when the city is lit, this is amazing of any city in the world), and finally, on the street which you're already expert at, looking up and around. Definitely, show the Myeongdong street food market when its busy and lit up beautifully, also the other hustling and bustling markets during the day like you have in your exiting videos. Show some of the great food in the restaurants like the barbecue, mixed rice in hot pot, hot boiling stews, etc. They make my mouth water. Show people why they want to visit Korea like for its great cosmetic products. Show the interesting changes from the old to the new generation. Use some good horizon music for the background like in the movies. Everything can be condensed in a one hour documentary but it should contain a lot of action, quickly going from one thing to the next, to make it exciting and make people want to visit Korea right now, to see an amazing, exciting, newly developed country of modern enhancements and mouth watering food of the best street food in the world, but also show the great, delicious restaurant food. Show me another place in the world that buzzes street food like Korea, nowhere, it's not the best food in the world but it's one of the best worth showing. You could mention why you want to try Korean food, like Kimchee and Soybean sauce or paste that have one of the most prolific beneficial bacteria that cleanse the body of pollutants, boost the immune system, and greatly help digest food. Actually, Korea has one of the most fermented foods in the world for that matter. You should talk to KBS, EBS and other stations' execs if this is something you like to do.. Hope I've helped. Thank you for all your videos. I thoroughly enjoyed them.

So, is there only places that are open during specific times of the day? Like, I know that in America(as I'm sure you know as well) that we have all restaurants open during the day, but all of them close except for bars. I'm a little surprised that not *EVERYONE* is suuupper skinny and not everyone is suuuuuper fit. Most of the people there look like Otaku's who actually walk. Is there a sportsy trend going on? Cause I know I've seen quite a few males and females wearing joggers/jogging pants. Sorry if I'm asking a lot of questions! >< I'm just suuuupppeeerrr curious~! I know there's a couple of KZbinrs out there, but they don't really *show* and or explain a lot of the stuff there.
@karens1fan8368 жыл бұрын
I'd like to say first is that I'm a little flustered and surprised that you wrote back! *0* When I mean Otaku's I was referring it as the stereotype of Otaku. Where Otaku's are white/pale cause they don't go out in the day light and exercise. I guess that was me trying to pull a very poorly executed joke. ^w^ll Ohhhh~ So basically my assumptions were correct about the whole sportsy look~ I will be going there next year hopefully as long as everything goes as planned! Thank you again for responding to my questions. Thank you thank you~
