A few people have asked for clarification on the strumming pattern! It’s also known as the island strum, which is down down up up down up. I hope that helps! The beginning part is just strumming down on the chord changes. Also, I know that I say “Steven’s Universe” rather than “Steven Universe” in the video-people, including my husband lol, have been very kind to make me aware of this. Word mess up aside, I hope you find the video helpful!

Sorry for a stupid question but do you just play the whole sequence (D D U U D U ) twice for each chord or is it something else? And do you sometimes not play the last "up" in a sequence? I just started learning ukulele and love Steven universe so I really want to learn this! Thank you for your tutorials!

@@Dawn444No such thing as a stupid question! The strumming pattern is not determined by the chord. You continue to play the pattern the whole time. Typically you will play it twice per chord, but not all the time. There might be a few places where the last "up" is not as prominent or I am changing chords, but I am always doing the last "up." The nice thing about strumming patterns is that when they are super repetitive, like in this song, when you have the pattern down, all you have to do it think about changing chords with the left hand. To get a nice smooth transition, I would think about the strumming and chord changing as two separate things that happen to be going on at the same time rather than two things that are dependant on each other. Does that make sense? Plus, I wouldn't worry about playing the song the exact same way that I have here. The tutorial is meant to be a guide to make your own music. I am a firm believer that when you are making music, you should always change it just a little bit to make it your own. Maybe in your version, you omit the last "up" or maybe you add something else! By the time you are playing it, it has become your version of the song, so you can do whatever you want to do!

if you having trouble on b7 you can put your 1st finger on the 2nd fret of the 2nd string, your 2nd finger on the on the 2nd fret of the 4 string and your 3rd finger on the 3rd fret of the 3rd string. or you can do a g but move every finger to the left 1 string

I'm learning the ukulele just now but the only things I'm having trouble with is the strumming pattern and timing the tune with singing. like I have to take a pause to know where I'm going to put my fingers for the next chord. The thing with the strumming pattern i get confused with going it on loop while singing it, i can't do those two things at once but other then that this was super helpful!

Focus on getting the chords mastered and memorized before trying to sing along! It’s too much for the brain to focus on at any one time. So master the chords and once you have done that then sing along!
