No one is talking about Kevin G. That piano is SICK! Cory seems to be one of the most humble band leaders, letting others solo and shine. He sits in the back smiling and glowing in others’ glory!

This song always gets me. I know the speech in the middle turns into a bit of a goof, but it truly lifts me up every single time. It always shows up on shuffle or now in my feed at just the right time. A little while after it first was released I was walking around a park in my neighborhood listening to the album. I had just moved to a city that I grew up near but wasn't really familiar with. I was starting a new job and was having a hard time. Right as Cory's solo kicked in during the speech I walked over a hill and the sun started shining right on me. It was such a beautiful moment I almost started to cry because I got this overwhelming feeling like everything was going to work out. Cheesey I know, but 100% real. Even listening to it now in the middle of covid, and unrest against rampant systematic racism, I still get that same feeling. Damn Cory rocks.

I've watched enough of Cory's videos to know that while this message is delivered in a loveable, goofy way, he's speaking his truth. There are very few people who can articulate this rampant, encompassing enthusiasm for each person's personal capability, but even fewer who can articulate that message behind a bumping grove. Cory is a national treasure!

It's not cheesy, man. It's adequately responding to the power of music and nature. It's something we should all have. All the best!

I used to say "There are no guitar heroes any more". The last ones I loved were Hendrix, BB King, Clapton, Blackmore and a few others. Then nothing. Then came Derek Trucks. And then nothing again. But then came Cory Wong, and the sun is shining brightly into my mind every day!! :-)

As someone who grew up and played in very cultish church environments, the speech was next level tongue-in-cheek. I had PTSD in the first half, and then was like, “go gettum, Cory” in the second half.

Last night I had a dream Cory was playing First Ave again and asked me to sing his songs. The concert was supposed to be the next day and I was kind of panicking. I ended up turning him down. Anyway, sweet to see these tracks being recorded. Adds a new level of enjoyment personally.

his first one is an american professional(?) series with a more noticeable wear around the top edges, and his highway one with pick scratches above the pickguard between the neck and middle pickups (the one in the optimist album cover)
@TylerBrainerd4 жыл бұрын
He's got a music man cutlass he's been bringing out on a few tours too lately, but yes he's got two different strats in very different conditions. One had humbuckers in it for a while, too. I believe the VERY worn in one was pre 2019 and is worn out by the top outer edge significantly, and had humbuckers for a while. The newer one he got I think early 2019, the highway 1, and it has worn out above the pickguard more.
