The fact that the entire game is priming you to think it’s a stalker coming after her because of a parasocial relationship, when in reality the whole thing was orchestrated entirely by her ex, is so clever. It makes too much sense, how would her revealing her face even allow someone to get her address? Only her real-life connections would have known, it’s beautiful. Chilla’s art games are a bit rough around the edges but I’m always impressed by the little things.

Revealing her face has nothing to do with it. She clicked an unknown link and downloaded a fans game. It’s very possible for that game to have scripts and stuff to trace her IP and get info off her PC. Revealing her face is just one thing it did. I’m sure you know this already but hackers can learn everything about you if they want, hell search your full name on google and look around for 3 mins. You WILL find sites that just have your address, phone numbers, birthday, etc. They’re called data brokers and even google is guilty of it. Sites that buy your info from things you sign up for or buy things from then sell your info to other companies for ads and such.

The game really does do a good job of making _everyone_ seem against you, and it turns out to be warranted because a large portion of the characters were. Brilliant how if you go back and look, every one of the conspirators was trying to keep you isolated and away from positive influences and outside lifelines. Asuka despite seeming suspicious didn't do anything resembling that, she was just generally thoughtless and that was why they used her against you. They wanted you paranoid, and to manipulate that paranoia into getting with Rikiya. You could take it as the only way to win is really to trust someone, conversely the only person not feeding into your distrust of others, Asuka. Or you could interpret it as them underestimating how good of a survival instinct her paranoia was, their little narrative fell apart because she didn't take anything at face value, not even stuff that would confirm her fears.

i’m just now realizing, this game has so many subtle things you don’t realize at first. Also keep in mind that every conversation with or near the 4 in on it changes the outcome in later situations. So much little things that happen subtly. Chilla’s art cooked beautifully with this game. Cool events: - 8:30 the game is the NEXT door neighbor/stalker. - 20:30-40 we might the coffee shop stalker. - 38:20 the building manager subtly drops that she should get with someone, and attempts to find out WHY she broke up with him, in order to tell the ex. - 43:15 we meet bro who jumpscared us out the locker (then he got pieced up after) - between 46:00 and 46:40 we enter her dream stage, where she eventually wakes up from a bad dream - 49:20 shortly after the picture was taken, asuka was kidnapped as we eventually ended up finding her in the other apartment (not during the dream sequence, future foreshadowing) - 55:27 he drags her away from the police box, because he actually isn’t a cop, and he knew if she went in the box the operation would’ve been blown. - this one is a stretch, but at 58:20, i think some of the viewers are the ones IN on the whole thing. - 1:00:11 they all communicate for “operation go” and they let the paid “stalker” get to her and to then show up shortly after to make it seem more heroic - another stretch, at 1:00:30, the police officer and ex are both locked inside the closet waiting for the paid “stalker” to arrive, to come out. (since the building manager found out where she lived, and pretty much gave them access to go in presumably) - 1:09:29 when asuka leaves, she’s officially kidnapped and placed in the other apartment, in order to not sidetrack the operation.

From the police randomly running up to her inquiring if she was alone (which Cory caught, but didn't follow through with) and then later giving her his personal number, to the building manager giving away her personal number right after the face reveal scene (again, Cory sort of caught that it was weird for a building manager to not introduce themselves sooner), and the ex was just automatically suspicious because he's her ex and if she broke up with him AND had him blocked (also, kudos to the shopkeeper for protecting her by blocking him!), it was probably for good reason. Now, I didn't think it was a four way planned trick to... what, get her to take her ex back? I just thought there was going to be multiple endings of her dealing with the reality of different types of stalkers. And I trusted Asuka fully with that message about calling the police. Honestly, my first instinct when MC asked about calling the police was an emphatic "NO!" but that's because I was of the mind that the stalker had her house bugged and her calling the police would cause him to come zooming back in and stabbing her. But then she explained about it being night time and going in person so that they take he more seriously as well as it being broad daylight (less likely to be attacked) and all I could think was "Oh my goodness... a video game npc that actually uses sound reasoning". I would trust Asuka with my life.

The way we are introduced to all four characters creepily, but Asuka was never a jumpscare, …minus the dream part, was very telling. When watching this I had Deja Vu because I know for a fact that Cory played this game before. It was like two years ago maybe not that long. I know for a fact that the reactions are different, but I clearly remember him playing this game before, and some reactions felt the same. And he stalked us to the convenience store where we met him the first time which means he knew our schedule too and when we tend to go to the store. Anyway, Cory and Kubz are my faves!!

rewatched this like four times and everytime it throws me off about how cory was so fast to trust the ex-boyfriend. obviously they broke up for a reason, and nina even stated that they weren’t a good match, but cory was so fast to trust him and get rid of the best friend. at the convenience store the ex was acting super creepy, and nina even seemed scared to be speaking to him. even after this, cory was so quick to call him a “good guy.” at the end he was so quick to say he was marrying the ex, but he wasn’t even shocked at how the ex knew when the attack was going to happen and how he knew to bring a weapon to subdue the stalker. the story of the game honestly is relatable as a woman. i went through something similar with my ex, (him setting up situations to make himself seem like a good guy so i could want him back) & etc. it was REALLY relatable when the boyfriend plotted to get rid of the best friend by setting up that picture, because that definitely happened to me. abusive people want to isolate you as much as possible so they can have as much power over you as possible. the whole game is crazy i love it.

i also was in an abusive relationship and this game definitely does a pretty good job representing the paranoia and fear. but i also want to make a point that i think cory's judgement was relatively sound here. i also immediately trusted the ex. the story was set up in a way where you don't know the reason for why nina and her ex broke up, only that "we weren't working out", which can be ANY reason from being a major abusive controlling red flag to the fact that she loves vtubing more than her bf. we're blind to that reason and its not an immediate thought to think the boyfriend was abusive for many of us. at the same time, judgements are made fast in flight or fight systems. cory's judgement here is going to be a very common or immediate judgment many of us will make, especially when we are stressed in a situation like this. the game also does an AMAZING job at "edging" us for help, where we actually never receive satisfactory assistance until the last second - when nina gets "rescued" from the stalker by her ex and the cop - so that when we DO get that help, that single satisfying help, we take it blindly and hang onto it. its a really great and i guess safe experience for people to experience the phenomenon of love bombing, touch starvation in toxic relationships, etc. in a weird way to understand what its like being a victim, where that one major catalyst of good kind of keeps us stuck in that toxic/abusive relationship. i feel like cory's response, to how he stated he would immediately marry the dude, is actually very much a victim-like response in this situation, where we're so blinded by that one notion of hope/love/save that it makes us want to stay still. his reaction, is by far, extremely normal, and a very sad reality that happens. notice how nina got back with the ex after that!
