My Little nightmares theory is that the boat represents an orphanage. The cannibals represent bad homes and parents who put their children up for adoption. They "eat" away at who the child is and destroy their hopes and dreams. Through out the game you watch Six grow. This represents the challenges she faces as she spends more and more time in the system. The evil lady/mother figure is dark because it represents an abusive or bad parent. You have to sneak around and try not to get caught. If you get caught then you're "eaten". When Six is finally old enough to escape she becomes just as the evil lady. She absorbed the evil from the environment she was raised in. So she paid the price for finally getting out of a bad situation. The dlc represents how not everyone is able to handle it. Many children die in the system. Many who are lucky enough to make it until they are legal age follow the bad examples set for them by their toxic parental figures. This also explains the fact that they are all sleeping in beds in the same room. I also feel like this explains the hunger pains that Six was feeling. She waited until it was unbearable to try to eat because it was dangerous for her in her situation. The children are also represented as small in comparison to the world because they are made to believe that they are small and insignificant. This is also why the parental figures and the cannibals are giants, they are more threatening when they loom over the helpless children. This is simply my opinion and theory on the game. Theory that's mono before he got his bag and had to escape there.
