For my first two years at Juilliard, Jimmy and I were close. I was a clarinetist from the midwest and he was a world class pianist at age 19. He was learning Beethoven concerti about the same time that I was learning how to kill spiders with a magnifying glass! A giant musican, but a fragile adolescent in other parts of his life!

For conducting Mozart well, you must be deeply good, malicious, precise and, of course, a little bit melancholic. Here he is ! Bravo.

"Cosa serve? Why is he in a wheelchair?
@trollza217 жыл бұрын
He suffered a fall a few years ago, which resulted in the loss of motion in the lower half of his body. he was actually out of commission from the met opera for a while while in PT for his injuries. Plus the Met had to build a custom podium for him.

Levine fractured his spine in 2011 and has been wheelchair-bound ever since. He had other sorts of health problems, surgery for a spinal disc, had a kidney removed and suffered from Parkinson's disease. The return to the stage was very impressive, such a strong spirit. Not to mention multiple allegations of misconduct, which effectively ended his career. As a conductor, he was passionate rather than precise, but you can't deny - he has a great ear for music, he was a very talented interpreter of classical music. He had some performances that elevated him into the ranks of top-tier conductors of his times.
