I recall calling out a "natural" men's skincare brand for equating cosmetic acids to corrosive acids that "melt" the face in their instagram marketing. Male consumers are usually uneducated when it comes to skincare, so they will believe that dude that says using acids is like "burning the forest on your skin." I, of course, countered with facts. Thanks for another great video.

I love your content! And your always so beautiful and articulate! You and Chemist Corner have been helping me greatly. Right now I am saving to be able to attend your certification program. In the meantime I’m struggling to understand buffer solutions. I know pH adjusters are used to either raise or lower a formulations pH to the desired range but buffers lock the range in to keep it from dramatically changing overtime. I’ve been having a hard time locating information on how to make buffers and incorporate them into a formulation. Is there any resources that you know of that can help with this topic? Thanks!

We don’t have these acids in the program because they are very hard to stabilise, and you do need proper cosmetic science training to ensure a stable and long shelf life. You can learn with our study only option (50% off full course fees), visit this page: personalcarescience.com.au/STUDYOPTIONS/STUDYOPTIONS-7504/ You can learn how to formulate with acids, stabilise them and check shelf life with our Certificate in Advanced Cosmetic Science: personalcarescience.com.au/CosmeticScience/CertificateinAdvancedCosmeticScience-478/ or Diploma of Personal Care Formulation: personalcarescience.com.au/CosmeticScience/DiplomaofPersonalCareFormulation-479/ Happy formulating!

hi, Belinda thanks for this very informative video. I wanted to ask about the salicylic acid, it says to dissolve it in ethanol or propanediol or isopropanol at a 10:1 ratio, does it mean the salicylic acid should be added at the 10 and the propanediol at 1 or the other way?

There's a skincare company that makes a body lotion and it contains salicylic acid. The PH was around 4.8. What would be the point of having that ingredient at that PH in the product?
@theinstituteofpersonalcare64012 жыл бұрын
It would not have much activity at a pH of 4.8. I can’t comment why they have done that, you may want to ask them? I saw a face wash with Mandelic acid in it. How possible is it that the Mandelic acid is still bioavailable?
@theinstituteofpersonalcare64012 жыл бұрын
The pH is either low to suit it, or it isn’t bioavailable. You could test the product to find out - if it doesn’t give the required results then it probably isn’t bioavailable.
