I quickly freeze my shea butter after melting it, so that solves the grainy problem. I use arrowroot to stop my balms feeling greasy so that solved that problem. And I make summer and winter blends. I also store my balms in the fridge on hot days. I use different essential oils that are not phototoxic or otherwise unsafe especially for skincare like some ketone type essential oils. I'm a novice but also an ex nurse, so I do my research. I do enjoy your videos.

Dear Belinda, can you advise on how to how to fix cracking in the sticks? also what about the sweating of the sticks? thanks :)
@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401

Cracking occurs when you don’t have enough flexible waxes in the formula - and too many brittle/hard waxes. Please see this workshop for guidance on how to select some flexible materials to solve this problem: Can I use a different oil, butter or wax: personalcarescience.com.au/Workshops/Oilsbuttersandwaxesworkshop-5209/ Please watch this video to solve the sweating problem (officially known as syneresis): Formulation fix its: Oily separation (syneresis): personalcarescience.com.au/Workshops/Oilsbuttersandwaxesworkshop-5209/ You can also learn how to formulate professionally and make these selections with confidence with our Certificate in Advanced Cosmetic Science: personalcarescience.com.au/CosmeticScience/CertificateinAdvancedCosmeticScience-478/ or Diploma of Personal Care Formulation: personalcarescience.com.au/CosmeticScience/DiplomaofPersonalCareFormulation-479/

My body balm (75G) cracks in the middle after it cools (I cool it in the refrigerator). Any thoughts on stopping that?
@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401
@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401 3 жыл бұрын
The bigger the packaging, the more a waxy balm will cavitate, and in your case, crack, as it cools because the wax in the formula contracts as it cools. You can alter the packaging or your formula to reduce or overcome this issue.

Hmmm I still quite don't understand about why almond oil is not considered as a low melting point oil. I googled that the melting point of almond oil is -18°C, which is very low. While shea butter has melting point of above 30°C which is mich higher
@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401
@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Almond oil is a liquid at room temperature, so its melting point is irrelevant. It is liquid even at 0 degrees, so it doesn’t need a melting point, its already liquid.

Thank you for this video, it is very helpful, but I am confused. I use your CCF Program. If I make Lip Balm with your Program, the Consistency Factor can be maximum 22%. I mean, you use in this video at 26% (Carnauba 5%, Candelilla 5% and Beeswax 16%). Why can not make this Formula in your Program? And Coco-Caprylate can be used at maximum 10% in your Program. Why? And your lipid base is Castor oil in the Program. If I don't use castor oil, I can not "Generate Method" .....Why must I use Castor oil in the Program? This is not a criticism, this is only a question....I love your CCF Program and your channel 🌞
