I love a good swipe technique but this one really helps create a glow and shadow using the silver against a backdrop of black with gold and copper swipes.

▶ Technique: Swipe Technique
▶ Canvas size: 20x40 inch
▶ Pouring Medium formula: My paints are mixed with Owatrol (Floetrol) with a ratio of paint to pouring medium of 1:3. I also add 1 part water into this to allow free-flow movement so its 1:1:3 Paint:Water:Pouring Medium.
▶ Color Palette:
Amsterdam: Copper, Lamp Black (Base).
Pebeo: Iridescent Gold, Iridescent Silver
▶ Hair dryer: Remington D3010 and always use the cool setting

Hi Mark this is fabulous. I created a similar piece but I embellished the centre and I really don’t like it (hideous!) so I have a mandala stencil to go over it with but I guess I need to somehow make my paint thicker for the stencil? and should I scrape off the embellishment before I use the stencil? Thank you! I use a gloss modelling gel when I use a stencil which makes it a thicker consistency and really makes it stand out from the background 👍🏻

Mark I’ve been trying this a number of times and I keep getting lacing, which I do not want. It seems that my black is eating up my colors and creating lacing. I am using artist loft soft body flow for my base, could it be the problem?

I don’t use artist loft but I imagine it would be your base that’s the issue. Maybe when you mix your paints ensure it’s slightly thicker and a thin layer on the base; that might help 👍🏻

Thank you. I buy canvases from a shop so don’t make them myself. Always buy ready primed which means ready to use and usually go for deep edge so no frame necessary

9:12 mark - I like that sharp little "boomerang" where there was a bit of a bridge of silver between two of the puddles in the copper. Catches the eye. I could see adding a couple more of those around. Nice piece!

J'aime votre façon tres Zen de balayer, j'ai encore du travail à faire pour balayer aussi bien que vous. J'aimerais bien si cela vous inspire que vous fassiez un balayage mais avec un centre dans lequel vous utiliseriez du satin enamel. Cela me plairait bien de voir ce que vous pouvez réaliser.
