Solo episode Q & A this week!
This question comes to us from Aimee L. in Maine:
“As I continue to age, my body looks different in a bathing suit…Since I hit my 40s, I am embarrassed to go to the public pool…I will also see the parents of my children’s friends who will look at me like I am crazy in a bathing suit. Is there a dignified way for me to go to the public pool in a bathing suit?”
Great question, Aimee! Aging body stuff comes up a lot in my private practice too.
In this episode, I share:
-where body consciousness comes from and how to beat it;
-the vastly differing ways other countries see a woman in her 40s, 50s and beyond;
-how to drown out the noise of society’s demands on our bodies;
-the practical solution to the bathing suit conundrum of our 40s and up;
-using Internal Family Systems or IFS therapy to work on body self-consciousness issues;
-the importance of walking on an incline with a weighted vest for the exercise win;
-various other tools to support your mental health!
And the winner is…Kelly Burns!
Thank you so much for all of you who entered the giveaway. I LOVED reading your reviews of the podcast and it has reminded me of how lucky we are to have our community here. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
