He's playing 16th singles on the blast there are some 3/4 speed blasts where he alternates between 'triplets' and singles to accentuate speed or groove but most are 16th single strokes

Great drummer, but the snare blast beats are lacking in tempo
@HabAnagarek8 жыл бұрын
disagree; those are some fucking badass snare hits, man.

HabAnagarek If you disagree than you need to play to a metronome. His snare blasts are lacking in tempo, the can't keep up at that speed. Never seen this drummer before but he's not very good honestly. He used his right hand only on the snare because he cant blast very well with his left. I actually used to do that too when my left hand sucked, i'd move my ride over by my hats, that way I only needed to blast with my right hand, because my left was very slow. Thats why he only does bomb blasts too. Requires right hand blasting, and than just one little hit with the left hand on every 4th measure. Check out John Longstreth. THAT is a pro, he is without a doubt the best extreme metal drummer alive today

SkateSmokeAndDrum You're absolutly right, he isnlacking in tempo a bit and yes Longstreth is a master at what he does, but the only thing they have in common is playing metal. There is no point in compairing drummers, because each has his own style and everyone is a different person. I think Max is a fantastic drummer in his own right, just because he causes so much mayhem and fury. That's a quality on it's own. I wish more people would just sit back and enjoy the ride instead of always wanting to compair people with eachother. Just listnen and let your face be melted off by the brutality of it all!

ricklieffering Well i'm not just comparing, I play drums aswell i've been playing for 13 years, i'm speaking from experience. People may like this guy and theres nothing wrong with that, i'm just saying he's not the best, or even one of the top 100 at his type of music. It is of the utmost importance that the drummer is on tempo, ESPECIALLY in death metal, with constant blasts. I only say this because there are soooooooooo many death metal drummers that are way better and are unknown! Kinda like this. Miley Cyrus and the Kardashians, are fucking USELESS IDIOTS, but everyone likes them so theyre still around. This guy isnt a useless idiot at all lol just an example

mickey sheehan yeah I can definatly see your point and you are right. I'm also a drummer and I try to keep tempo and groove my top priorities, but I really don't mind if a drummer is lacking in tempo here and there. What I meant with my previous answer is that with deathmetaldrummers people always are talking about their technical abilities and how fast and tight they are or aren't. But drummers like Aantar Coates from Diabolic who aren't supertight, in fact sloppy on some double bassparts, are still, imo, incredibly fun to listen to. Just because of the whole vibe they're creating. But it all has to do with personal preference and the context in which the drummers are in. Because in some cases it can be annoying. For example if Raymond Herrera of Fear Factory had really sloppy double bass it would be a no go.
