I have Christian beliefs and the CosmicSkeptic here gave good arguments against Mario. Mario does need better arguments with some evidence for his arguments. But this debate as we all know has been done over and over along with the atheist vs Christian arguments. The whole idea that just because no one observed something does not mean it didn't happen, we could also argue just because there is no sufficient evidence for God does not mean he does not exist. Also just because there are many miss shaped skulls does not mean that is evidence that proves transition with Evolution. But people can go round and round as many have with this. There are actually intelligent Christians that have debated this a little more intelligently then Mario presented here. I was actually cracking up at Mario when he was laughing.

Rick, you're missing the point that there is a ton of evidence, beyond misshapen skulls, for evolution. There is a lot of evidence that has been observed. I've yet to see a good debate on intelligent design, which is one large argument from ignorance.

Some yes because change can be observed. But millions of years I'm not convinced. Nor that our ancestors were animals. Not convinced, but to each their own. I don't think it can be fully proved other wise we wouldn't have this argument. My comment was just to point out that even though I'm not an atheist he made a good video for people who are skeptical of Evolution. Does not mean I'm going to change my mind over the so called mountains of evidence argument.

The problem with both this video and the examples you're bringing up is that they're really bad examples. DNA shows common ancestry. Irreducible complexity is not only an argument from ignorance, it's been shown to be false when it comes to the bacterial flagella. This is the equivalent of trying to argue the helio-centric model of the sun/earth relationship today. We know better. And the video, in many places, lies about what people are saying and shows a shocking amount of scientific ignorance. A good video wouldn't be so untruthful or using arguments that have already been dismantled.

i just watched this SE vid of a guy 100% god exists and 100% faith, he was asked what would happen if we had 100% proof god existed, he said "if you(!) were 100% certain god existed it would make you behave solely to get you to heaven, in other words your acts wouldn't be sincere" i'm having trouble unpacking this but shouldn't the optimal position on faith be 50% - so you have to act sincerely (pascals wager) but still have the test be valid, and, he's 100% certain god exists, but obviously he's acting with sincerity, his knowledge is impartial - he's implying god is both watching him and not watching him at the same time. this brought ME to the conclusion that if god wants you to act sincerely, we wouldn't have ANY NOTION that he existed, we're all acting unnaturally (when you get told you'll burn in hell, whatever your belief you can't unhear that).

Unfortunately it is not uncommon to see such an attitude amongst a certain type of Christain (and I assume believers of other faiths). I was taught about the big bang in school and i read up on it later myself and i NEVER read anything about everything coming from nothing. There is no part of the theory that suggests anything of the sort. The big bang is merely the earliest point in our cosmological history that we can make any sort of evidence based statement about. As far as we know, it's simply the beginning of the universe as we know it, not the beginning of the universe itself.

Look at frogs, and other amphibians, they have webbed feat that would've evolved from fins, and later evolved in other species to form feet. You can't just state things and say here's the proof. Saying objective morality doesn't mean god exists. And there isn't objective morality because God doesn't exist. There is no evidence of an objective morality so that argument is mute. We have free will and are conscious because our environment demanded this. After gradual changes (which we have fossil evidence for of early 'humans') over millions of years our brain density grew, which we know contributes to intelligence. Sure the universe did have a beginning and did have a cause. But this doesn't mean god exists. Just because science hasnt discovered exactly how the universe began doesn't mean god exists. And you have no proof that god actually created the universe. I'm not saying evolution is fact, but there's so much evidence that it's very hard to logically deny and state reasons. Again, no intelligence is required for life and humans as we know to exist at all. It was almost inevitable for this to happen, given billions of years of incremental changes. I don't think scientists have found soft tissue from dinosaurs alive at the time. However if you can link me to where you found that then that would be great. Even if we did somehow find soft tissue we have still carbon dated things back to hundreds of millions of years old. This is fact. You can argue the earth is not billions of years old. Unlike religion and theories in science, this is proven and nothing will ever change that. What research shows 90% of species appeared at the same time? sam yousif Cancer can result from mutations of proto-oncogenes and tumor suppressors, but there's more to mutation than just cancer. Mutations occur in the womb during transcription of your DNA and can cause differences in protein production. These differences in proteins (and therefore tissues) cause the individual to be more or less likely to reproduce and pass their genes onto the next generation. That's very basic evolution.

i dont mean to be mean but cancer is only one form of mutation, many forms of mutation can occur and not only in cells, cancers mutation causes cells to indefinitely separate, but there are other mutations such as elephantiasis, and albinism, thats just cells, when we look into chromosomes mutations happen there as well which can cause a person to gain a chromosome which sadly leads to mental degradation, point is mutations arent specific to cells like cancers are, and most mutations that evolution talks about are heretic mutations

DeathHawk, I do question the translations of those passages, as there was not a word for homosexuality back when they were originally writing the Bible. As such, the line about 'practising homosexuality' can't be an accurate translation. Equally, most of those passages talk about sexual immorality and impurity. Unless you are saying homosexuals having consensual sex is the same as rape, molestation, bestiality or necrophilia, most of those lines can only be "interpreted" to include homosexuality, as it doesn't reference it directly. Also I find it amusing it only says men can not be gay. Apparently lesbians are fine... yeah, I think I'll pass on that. Edit: Forgot to ask, why are you able to say tattoos are fine as long as they are not for demon worship, while the Bible clearly states that tattoos are wrong. No ifs, no buts, just wrong. Sounds very much like a double standard to me.

A scientific theory requires testable evidence that always provides results to suggest that the theory is correct. So even though the theory of gravity can be proven time and time again as factually accurate (because we have evidence that suggests it is true) it will still always be called a theory. But it is not referring to the layman term for a theory, which doesn't requiere any evidence to exist. It is a scientific theory which requires proveable and testable evidence.
