Outstanding! I used this process to re-stencil the U.S.A. Stars on my 1942 WWII Army Truck, I used a pair of calipers, vice grips and 2 pencils with duct tape to secure them, This process works very well! Thank you for sharing and good selection of music to practice to. The picture of my avatar is one of the doors your tutorial helped me paint again after 75 years!

stepping around a circle is a rather unreliable method if your goal is exactness. when you step around a circle using a compass it multiplies any error in your construction exponentially. degrees of error can exist in the location of the compass points or in the tool itself. I would suggest a more reliable way to construct a regular pentagram using a different method. as a note, many pentagram construction methods are merely approximations. connecting the points with lines running through their opposite conjunctions of the lines at the other side of the origin will give you a proof of the regularity of your construction. for many applications, exactness is not always needed. in fact, it is nearly impossible to construct any perfect geometric object using hand-held tools as there will always be a degree of error in the tools themselves or in the process of construction, or in the sloppiness of the person at hand.

As Justin Crow pointed out, that isn't a very precise way of making the 5 pointed star. Not only did it seem to involve too many steps, you can tell there is some margin of error at the end result when your horizontal line of your star is not parallel with the first horizontal line you made. I would imagine the way the pentagram is achieved would be the same process used for a 5 pointed star

This does actually work geometrically but his small inaccuracy early on was compounded into a large error at the end. Not sure why he didn’t just record it again.

What if my compass is different and my circle is bigger or smaller than yours ? Not a very reliable way to find the horizontal line you should rather drag the compass to the two points you have created by the circle and line then make the crosses from there.

to do this naturally u drop a rock then a 2nd rock anywhere (sorry i figured this out myself and taught myself so i may sound rundimentary) then on the 2nd rock draw another circle limited in length to the first rock then look up lol ull see a perfect triangle then u get ur geometry a subject i still need to try out..

I would construct the 5 pointed start by constructing a regular pentagon... after obtaining the 5 points I draw the straight lines to create the star.
@jsoren91306 жыл бұрын
Sorry to rain on the parade, but, sad to say, this isn't quite accurate. It gets really close, not enough for a perfect pentagram. Basically it takes more that this for accuracy, and a pentagram deserves a little more time and effort to get it right. If you walk it around, you end up about two millimeters beyond the starting point. If you do it symmetrically, doing both sides, alternately, then you can shorten the gap to about 1 to 3/2 millimeters.

There is an easier; though not as relevant, or necessarily accurate, way to do this. Kind of similar to finding magnetic north, by using a wristwatch, or say using a small leaf, in some water, with a paperclip maybe. Thereby fashioning a compass, which would do the job, though not in as flambuoyant a manner as he is projecting. What you can also do is simply handraw a pentagram, five or six times (even with your eyes closed). Then use corresponding distance between points of your circle/star. The rest is found in ancient Greek history, which I cannot read, though the number 666 does spell X.E.S, or sex backwards, and that Greek I do know, as well as how to ask for a cup of coffee with milk in French... zzz The snake with back leg's which can stand up using it's tail, or just plain Satan, the only joker who never laugh's.

BTW, people that can draw 5-pointed perfect stars, freehand, no tools amaze me.:)

dlowe81 to suggest that any object could be drawn perfectly would infer that the person drawing it has a perfect understanding of what it is. I will watch your video on making a perfect pentagonal star once you release it. Even then I will question its perfection. :)
