Careful when boondocking in the Adirondacks or Catskills. NY State law for these parks state you must be 150 from a road or body of water (stream/pond/lake) unless its a designated camp site. The site in the clearing probably would not make a DEC ranger happy as its right on a road.

Great video, but you should know that you do not require a passport to enter Canada. It is nice to have when traveling into another country, but you can enter Canada without one, just need your diver license (official photo identification).
@CosmoWeems5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jeff. I checked about entering Canada. Its not clear to me. What is clear is I need the passport to get back into America! This is what I found. "Entry into Canada: Canadian law requires that all persons entering Canada carry both proof of citizenship and proof of identity. A valid U.S. passport, passport card, or NEXUS card satisfies these requirements for U.S. citizens. Children under 16 need only present proof of U.S. citizenship." Thank You for watching. Cosmo Weems the rules may have change, but I have traveled between Canada and the US many of times. I have no problems with entering Canada and back into the US with a driver license. However, it is always better to play it safe and simply have your passport with you. I did one time and the Canadian border agent did not even bother stamping the passport. She just simply said happy birthday and welcome to Canada. No problems coming back into the US either.

Hi Cosmo, In one of your you tube videos my husband saw the UST 1000 Led lantern (in orange). He is interested in it and saw that it haas a glow in the dark power button. He was concerned that it would use battery power when turned off. What are your thoughts on that? Thanks Patti
@CosmoWeems4 жыл бұрын
Hi Patti. On my lantern the glow in the dark button uses no power. Sort of like a watch face. You illuminate it and it gets charged from the light. You can put it in the sun and it will glow with no batteries in the light. I love that lantern. I now have 3 for black outs at home. I usually take 2 with me camping. How do you like the light? I’m new to your channel (and loving your adventures and sense of humor). I’m thinking of buying a teardrop in the next year for both solo adventures and adventures with my teenage daughter. I’m curious about your Subaru for hauling. Are you driving the 3.6 or the smaller engine? I drive a X3 but the space on the wagon seems perfect for camping (plus far easier to get a bike on and off vs my suv).
@CosmoWeems5 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrea. Welcome and thanks for viewing. My Subaru Outback is a 4 cylinder (small engine). It has 73 square feet of cargo space. I just purchased a roof cargo box for 11 more square feet of space. I can cram 2 bicycles and the cargo box on the roof. I carry a folding stool to access the roof. amzn.to/2TN7ZEn Much cheaper than buying a new car! Towing with your car should be no problem. These trailers are light. There may be other ways around cargo capacity. You can carry SOME weight in the trailer itself. Summer camping - 2 people 2 bicycles? Vistabule (and others) offer options like roof racks on the trailer itself if that helps. If kayaking is your thing too there are inflatable kayaks too. Everything is compromise. If the bikes are on the trailer to transport them while camping you have to remove them and put them in the car etc. I would be happy to help if you have more questions and decision points. Having said all that I enjoy the the fun I have with the trailer. I can afford lots of larger RVs - this was a choice that matched my current interests. =Cosmo

And/or i flipped the bag over so the hood can tent over my head. Face is warm. Head is warm. And good space for fresh air. AND...im about the only person who believes in this but i use a hot water bottle in the foot space and it warms the whole bag. And eventually the teardrop. Yep, love the waterpic. Hahaha you have a great sense of humor. And I love that you forget stuff. You’re human. People like to see the human side not just the production. Good video. Thanks for sharing.

Wow! I thoroughly enjoyed your video. First I've seen of yours. Love your toothbrush dilemna! haha who needs a motor?? It is awesome to see folks appreciating the beauty we have right here in New York. This summer, I embarked on 6 small trips-solo. First I've done this. (I'm a 55 yr old mom in downstate NY) Kids are big and hubby had no intrest. In two months I spent 25 days tent camping with no electric anything. I loved it!!! Was a bit worried of passing my time alone, but as you witnessed, the days just sneak away from you. You are an inspiration and living my dream when It comes time for my retirement. I want a mini rig--I'm sure I'll be ready to loose my tent by then. Happy trails my friend! Thanks for taking the time to make such a great video. You really have a knack for this. You are very interesting. Also, I love how you showed us the various appliances and technology you do use in the outdoors. And yes, nothing like a good map-something I thank my father for teaching me as a child going camping with him. A lost art almost.

Hi Cosmo, Question, When you take into consideration my previous comment on your last video about the sudden snow 3-4 weeks ago. How would your teardrop react to FIVE foot of snow and how would you get out? Relay enjoy your video's
@CosmoWeems5 жыл бұрын
I dont know. But Id rather be in the teardrop than a tent or car if trapped by snow.
