All these negative comments miss the point of the nagayka, it teaches you where your tension is held and how to release it. it also teaches you how to use relaxation to be faster and more powerful. This will directly increase your ability with any other weapon and with strikes, Mikhail himself will say if someone has a weapon, first thing you should do is run. Please experience systema and understand it's purpose before comparing this to a gun, knife ect. I've never met anyone that has practiced systema for more than a year that hasn't greatly increased their health and wellbeing.

mmm, no se, lo veo mas el latigo, como todo los latigos de ese estilo inutiles, es decir, su punto debil es que, si uno aguanta el daño puede usar la otra mano y apuñalar y si son de los largos los puedes enredar de manera que te puedes hacer con el latigo de su portador. La unica que si veria peligrosa y que no te pase como los otros ya mensionados. Seria un latigo de dientes o un latigo espada, ese latigo te puede tranquilamente si sabes usarlo arancar el brazo con facilidad o hacerle muchisimo daño o incluso hacer que el contrario muera por desangramiento y mas. :/

There is a shorter, american-made version of this called the Stinger Tactical Whip which has a tough steel tip on the handle which can be used in a melee.

Well that depends on the type of whip and the person using it, but In this case with this type of whip, Ur dead. But put a knife or a gun against a skilled bullwhipper then things will get interesting.

the lenght of such a whip will make a agressor in trouble if he only have a little weapon like a knife. You can see it in the video, and Master Ryabko don't use any force nor speed to beat his opponent.

Gun maybe, depend on distance and the person that can deploy his weapon first. Knife situation is more even. Here the knife length are one factor and the person who assault first another.

It looked to me like a determined person with a knife could take a hit and then be too close for the whip-wielder to have a good response.
