Happy you found it useful 😊. Land is very expensive throughout Ethiopia. The best deals can be found outside of the capital in less developed places. Around this time you may be able to find 200 m2 of land for 6-8 million birr near Addis Ababa. As you said, the price will vary based off of the location and lot size.

I want to give you comment specially on fixed contract or lump sum one in my view the main dis advantage of this kind of contract is not quality issue, rather it is costy because regarding quality it is possible to set minimum standard in each part of activity. @@Shawn-ky3te Thanks! Land in Ethiopia is VERY expensive at this time. Only one acre of land costs 1 million USD, and I highly doubt you could even find 10 acres of land to buy since land is technically owned by the Ethiopian government.

Hi! I’m not sure about building a gojo bet. Some areas are very strict about the type of house you can build. You would need to check with the local government in the area you’re interested in. I love the idea of a home vegetable garden though!!

It is a single, ground level home literally in the shape of an "L". I tried to post a picture, but I couldn't.

Where did you find the engineers? And do the engineers involve in the process during construction?

We found our engineer through family. He is very knowledgeable and experienced. Usually, the engineer you select will be involved with the process until the end.

The cost of land depends on the area. The price of materials is generally the same everywhere. However, materials are slightly cheaper in Addis and near by places because they charge a fee for transporting the materials to further places.

If you are asking for the price of land where we’re building, it’s around 6-8 million birr. It’s in Addis a little west of Haile Garment.

It depends on the size and the location. In Addis, 200 sq meters will cost 9 million Ethiopian birr on average. Smaller lots and land outside of Addis will be cheaper.

Our land is in a new developing part of Addis. It's about 15-20 minutes from the center of the city. We have 200 sq meters of land.
