Apologies for the reupload on this one. Turns out just this year Australia have cracked down on CBD advertising (NANNY STATE) but the video is definitely better without the sponsored content in it. I really like this format and want to make more, I use a co writer for these so the sponsored content is a great way to pay them. I’ve always been skeptical of Patreon because I’m concerned about audience capture but I think it’s the best option moving forward so we’ll work on getting a Patreon going as soon as possible. In fact there are a lot of jokes we cut out of these so we can upload an extended version on Patreon. Stay tuned.

The fact that Australia, with all it's cost of living crisis, rent crisis, housing crisis etc feels the need to strike down a KZbinr for their personal sponsor is absolutely unhinged. I have lost all hope for this once great country. Banger video though mate, keep em up!

It wasn’t KZbin I learnt about the regulations and took it down myself. Last thing I want is any legal hassle right now.

How the cost of living has affected me personally? My husband and I are in our mid 30s and really want to start a family. Ultimately, when we have a child, I want to be a SAHM for at least the first few years until the child is in school. We both work fulltime, reasonable salaries, but if I were to give birth and be a SAHM even for a few years, it would not be possible. 1 income is basically eaten by our mortgage repayments. We have cut a lot out to save, and have a decent saving sitting in our offset account so that would give us some time on what to do after a baby is born. I just don't know how people do it nowadays. I really don't want to put a baby in childcare and work fulltime or even part time when the first few years of a child's development is the most important! We, and many other people in our position, feel so stuck. 2 working full time adults with decent salaries is not enough anymore, but what else can you do without destroying yourself with additional jobs on top of fulltime work? Anyway. That's my rant.

Sounds hard. Sounds like you will be good parents. Just have the kids and see how you go. I know its a stupid time to be alive but my partner and I are in the same boat and we're just thinking we're going to have to pull the trigger soon and just do it because we can't wait until the world improves. I wish you all the best, peace and love.

Not just Australia. My parents bought a 1000²m home in Brazil for an equivalent of 2.5 years of their income when they were 26. I'm 28 and the best I could afford would be 7 years of my income for 35²m studio in a shitty location. Of course population is declining: Where should I start my family? In the oven next to the bed?

If we ditched fiat currency (which means it is backed by *nothing* its value is literally ‘by decree’) and returned to sound money backed by physical resources, as it was prior to the 70s the system would heal because the banksters and government could no longer print money ad nauseum - which is essentially unavoidable taxation (via devaluing of the currency and everything getting more expensive). If we reeeeeeally want to fix things, we have a central bank owned by the people, not private corporations, and then we ban usury, which would end inflation for good because the existence of interest payments mean you need a constantly expanding money supply (I.e. inflation, which is theft). Also, if our currency were backed by gold it would be strong AF because we are tied-second with Russia for gold production internationally. That’s as silvery-bullet as I can get it. Onya mate. 😘

Gr8 jokes m8. I just wanted to comment that the cost of living crisis, has got to do with the surge of the Private Equity market which sucks the blood of any business (its cashflow) and then goes after the next one. Regulation should be way more strict with it. In regards to inflation in groceries and everyday consumption goods, there Is a phenomenon called "sellers' inflation" (you should look it up), in which supermarkets just abuse their market power (they are an oligopoly) and charge prices way off the mark. This Is a global phenomenon and it doesn't seem to get any better anywhere. While grim, history has taught us that wars change the institutional arrangements radically, I'm just here in Colombia hoping that if Trump gets elected he doesn't decide to invade Venezuela, for example; in your case, a war in Taiwan would definetely affect Australia.

Me and my partner both bought homes separately in 2019/20 in the 300ks in Perth. These houses doubled in price and this year we used the equity to buy a family home. A few more years and we can sell the two original homes and pay off the family home mortgage. We both saved and sacrificed from 20-24 yrs old and worked median income jobs to save a deposit for the first house, not travelling living at home and in share houses. It’s no easier now than 5 years ago I know, you just do what you can to save and to make a financial plan which requires you to sacrifice your early 20s if your goal is to get on the property ladder. I’m 29 now, You can do it as millennials
@firstandforemost87Ай бұрын
“You can do it as millennials” Many were stuck in school at the age you guys were buying homes, and the ship has long since sailed on buying a modestly priced home at 2-3%. If you’re a millennial and you don’t have things figured out yet, then you’re likely worse off than zoomers because you’re down so much more productive time.
