Now having looked at the flats again at funda can’t find anything decent below 2000 EUR 🙊 what’s your experience with housing in AMS?

Thanks for the breakdown quite informative. Can I ask in which area in the Netherlands you live? It looks quite amazing tbh.

I’m glad you’ve liked it! We leave 25 km away and I go through different stages to be very honest! I totally love the area, the space and house vs the flat that were so privileged to live in, I do miss sometimes a possibility to just walk to your yoga class or cycle to kids daycare which living in Amsterdam offers🙈

3150 euro's for rent is ridiculous. I've lived there for 7 years and the max I payed was 1260 for about 60m2. You need to know people though.

Probably that and also maybe have time to be able to search for a perfect matching your needs flat too! We had a baby on our way and needed to have that sorted rather quickly!

I once lost a bet with a customer when I claimed there was an end to the insanity of the housing market. He disagreed and boasted he'd get 6x the normal rent. Okay, you're on. So he put a small inner city Amsterdam appartment up for rent for € 3800 a month. Within three weeks he had an idiot willing to rent it. Cost me a bottle of wine, that. For that monthly spending, you can buy a house of € 1,2 million if you instead spend it as a mortgage. That means that outside of Amsterdam you could buy two or three family-sized houses, for the money that idiot was spending on rent for 1 small appartment. 😆

I agree!! Feels unreasonable almost. But I always remind myself of the costs being a % out of the income you get in every country and here it’s proportionally higher vs the previous EU countries I’ve lived in

Im amazed that you are ukranian, and then surprised that the gas price has more than tripled. Maybe there is something going on in Ukraine that has caused this?
@iuliiatynna7426 Жыл бұрын
Is there a specific question you would like to ask me? 😅 Being Ukrainian doesn’t exclude not liking gas prices going up that much in case that was the question!
@qixxor2075 Жыл бұрын
@@iuliiatynna7426 you may not be aware of this. Europe has banned cheap russian gas in solidarity with the ukraine. So the price of gas has tripled. I would expect a ukrainian to know this and not complain about this.
@iuliiatynna7426 Жыл бұрын
@@qixxor2075of course I’m aware - have hosted quite few people for the first months of the actual war and my mom lived with us for a year. It doesn’t change the fact my salary wasn’t increased proportionally to the gas cost raise and the fact I’m Ukrainian doesn’t make it less painful.

@@iuliiatynna7426 If you don’t want to pay for solidarity with your own country. Why would Dutch people need to pay for this? Many didn’t know Ukraine existed, yet people with significantly lower income (based on the lifestyle you display) are confronted with this. They have had to make difficult lifestyle choices. Im not denying your right to complain, I think by doing so you are sending the wrong message.
