Kristine, I LOVED how you broke this down into such clear and concise categories! You explained the different costs extremely well! With travel being my favorite past time( and the main motivator for my financial goals) videos like this are so nice to contextualize what it is like to live in certain places around the world! Being in the USA myself, I'm always curious about the similarities to Canada. Just subscribed, keep up the great work!

There are so many beautiful places to explore here in Canada! Keep safe.

Hi! It's a very useful video! Just to verify with your budget of groceries (for homecooked meals, toiletries, etc) which is 700CAD, so addiional 200CAD for the occasional dining out? So that's 900CAD to cover food and groceries?
@TineInCanada Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes, that’s only for groceries. Dining out is excluded. But please keep in mind that time has changed and the inflation in Canada got worst. This time, our food cost or grocery jumped to almost $1000 monthly. Budgeting is very challenging nowadays.

your mortgage # (including tax) was that monthly or semi-monthly. if its monthly that really cheap considering real estate prices especially if it includes property taxes.
@TineInCanada4 жыл бұрын
It’s $810 bi-weekly which already includes the property tax.

Hi Kristine, we're in Toronto and thinking of moving to Ottawa because of the low cost of living. We're impressed with your monthly housing mortgage. Which places can we get that same amount of mortgage? We're currently looking at Kanata area. Thanks
@TineInCanada3 жыл бұрын
You can check areas like, Barrhaven, Riverside South, Orleans. Kanata is also good but it’s a bit far from downtown. Try to reach out Royal LePage Realtor, they helped us out with our new home. Goodluck with your move!

@TineInCanada3 жыл бұрын
Family friendly areas with good schools are very common here in Ottawa. You can check suburban areas such as Barrhaven, Riverside South, Manotick. If I were you I’ll check the Ottawa school board website, it shows some school rankings by category. It a good reference guide!
