Thanks for your comment. This will depend still on several factors (canton, your salary, how much your employer contributes out of your salary to a retirement fund, etc). But being in your exact position (which you described in your comment), I was paying something like 23% taxes on my monthly salary.

So far I really like Sympany for health insurance. It's the second cheapest, but it's also very English--friendly and it's customer service is great. It's Basel-based, so even though it's available in Geneva, for some reason it's not common here.

Hello and thanks for your comment. Hard to say really, there are many routes to reach this goal and it also depends on your interests. But in most general terms and safest way, work hard to educate yourself to a point where your expertise is world class and indisputable in a field is big here (finance, engineering, pharma, trading, tax). and of course languages. I wish you best of luck, its admirable that you are so motivated and conscious at such a young age. If you couple your drive with consistency, focus and hard work I am confident you can reach any goal you desire. And I wish you that from the bottom of my heart 😊 Best of luck and success!

that's a good questions, Geneva can get quite pricey in this regard. As for going out a beer will cost you 6 - 12 CHF depending on where you go, as for wine 5 - 12 CHF per glass depending on where you go. If you'd like cocktails you'll be looking at something like 15 - 30 CHF on average. On the upside, entrance to many clubs is free. Tickets to pathe cinema (cinema chain with blockbuster movies) is roughly 19 CHF, some more off cinemas are round 15CHF, there are also special deals on less busy days. Hope that answers your question ;)

Hi Rodwin and thanks for your comment! It's of course a very individual matter (glassdoor is a great place to check average salaries per job and per industry). The average cost in the video is (for a single person) calculated at 4000CHF, so if you get that as your after tax salary, you'll cover all your expenses, but not really have anything left. On the other hand the 4000CHF monthly is an average, im sure it's possible to live more modestly than that. 4000CHF after tax is something like 65k CHF per year salary (before tax, but the calculation here is very rough as it depends on a number of factors, such as how much you earn, if you are married, if so, if your spouse works if you have kids etc). 65k CHF is a low salary in Switzerland. This website (www.payscale.com/research/CH/Location=Geneva/Salary) claims the average annual salary in Geneva is 99k CHF, a single person can live comfortably off this in my opinion. You can also support a spouse off of this amount. With kids it would probably be difficult though. Did I at least partly answer your question?

@@Miko_PS_in_Switzerland yep, you are right, CHF4000/month is the minimum salary/wage per month for any one individual to be able to afford (at all) the costs of living in Geneva; the range of the salaries/wages per month, in Geneva, for work that's, typically, associated with the middle class, is between CHF6000-8000/month.

I know it's all relative to how frugal you are, but for a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 kids) is a salary of 132,000 CHF good enough to live well in Geneva?

I dont have kids myself, but from what I hear from friends who do, having kids in Switzerland is really expensive. 130,000CHF salary (depending on the canton) will be something just above 100k after taxes, lets say thats 9000 per month. An apartment for 5 people, I cannot imagine it will be possible for less than 3500-4000. insurances for the adults around 300 per head (again depending on canton and other details, you can see the details on Comparis.ch, you can also check the price for kids which I dont know completely. then food, we in 2 adults spend around 600-800 per month shopping in france, buying the same kind of selection in swiss would probably be around twice that (especially meet is like gold here...), but lets say groceries 1600. up to now we are at 5700. then the question is, what about, kids orthodontists, dentists, new clothes, kindergarden/daycare etc etc etc. In my assesment 130,000 is comfortable living for 2 people, 2 people with a child is still possible but you dont get to splurge on vacations, going out and you cannot save all that much. with 3 kids I think its very difficult. But again, that depends how good you are with saving. I suggest you try to reach out to families with kids, they will be much better able to say what expenses you have to take into account when having kids. I dont want to discourage, just trying to give the most full answer I can, but I must admit I have big gaps in knowledge when it comes to kids.

That’s a very popular solution many people do that. Mostly because real estate (buy or rent) is so much cheaper. You’d have a Swiss permit for people living in France, you’d be a French resident, for health insurance you must decide if you take Swiss or French (you decide once in your life only). You pay tax in Swiss and then part of it is shared with France based on agreements between Switzerland and France

I personally rent but from what I researched: “Switzerland has strict restrictions on foreigners buying property, so depending on your background, you may find your options limited. You can buy property in Switzerland if: - You are an EU or EFTA national with a Swiss residence permit who resides in Switzerland - You hold a Swiss C Permit. Hi Muncho, thanks for your comment. If you are an EU citizen, you can live here when you have a job or you are a student. As mentioned in the immigration video (kzbin.info/www/bejne/fafTia2tot5sapY) , as a non EU citizen, it's possible to live in CH while being a student (student visa) or by obtaining a permit (usually together with employer) based on special professional expertise not available in CH/EU (many people working for Google, UN or CERN live in CH on this basis). It's not easy, but can be done. Hello Anastasiia, thanks for your comment. In the video I’ve put 300 as an average groceries cost for one person and 150 which I consider a bare minimum, but at the same time have friends which spend that. Of course spending greatly depends on ones tastes and preferences. The idea in the minimum cost column was to show that if you’re a student or a beginning professional this is an absolute minimum you’ll need to spend to survive (pasta + passata diet ) 😂☺️

Well, I have experience in optimizing groceries, once (as a student) I survived on 28€ groceries in the Netherlands 😂🤣 As for Geneva, I do groceries in France, where meat is 4-5 times cheaper, the rest also much cheaper
