Inflation of 2-3% is nothing compared to US. Everything here is up 15% to 20%. Prices are insane.

That's crazy! Hopefully things will settle down soon!

@@CityCostJapan Its not going to. 40% of all US dollars were newly printed in last 2 years. Biden has signed new legislation amounting to 2 trillion dollars of spending for stupid stuff like CHIPs, and EVs. He also forgave a portion student debt, a 2 trillion industry. Inflation is not going to get better. US has no oil stategic reserves left, when oil goes up, everything goes up. US continues to give free money amounting many billions to Ukraine. All this new money came from thin air.

I agree, living in Tokyo, I have seen a small, maybe 1 to 2 percent hike for my expenses. In the news, Japan's inflation rate is at 3% compared to the US which is around 20%.

Yeah, that increase sounds about the same for us. Looks like there's a new relief package being eyed for October for people who are getting hit harder.

The question is why is it Japan started the QE and 0 interest rate and inflation are a lot lower than most? Is it because they produce most of the things they consume?
