A major flaw in this analysis is that one value cannot represent the whole picture. Kolkata offers a wide range of options for people. You can have a meal at a local dhaba for 100-150. You can also have a meal at a posh restaurant for 1000-1500. You could get a 2bhk for rent at 25-30k in some localities. You could easily get a 2bhk for rent at 10k in other localities. You could take a cab to travel 10km for 300-400 rs. You could cover the same distance using buses and autos for 30-40 rs. The public transport is so well connected that you could cover 80% of the city using buses and route autos.

Ghanta 30000 salary easily Fresher salary here is 8000 -14000 max If you are from tier 1 colledge then 12000-19000 per month max 30000 per month is for 11,12+ years experienced person which compared to other city is huge less just 25%

8k-10k easily get 2 bhk flat Transport- 1.5k Max Grocery n utility Max-8k Maid-1k N weekend party- 4-5k 25k-30k u live with your 4 people family.. N extra 10k for medical purpose n emergency N 10k for saving.. It means the earning around 50k in Kolkata u live your life with comfort

@@nikhilrateria Hi..as per my knowledge around 4k-5k u easily get 1 bhk flat...n if you go for sharing with 1 person your accommodation n utility cost around 3k.... Food price is very cheap in kolkata n transport cost also very cheap... For food for proper 1 time meal the costing around 30-50 rupee only.. N for transportation- bus fare Max 15 rupee n same as auto n metro 15-25 rupee... For 1 person around 10k u easily survive in this city with comfort n safety

Where in Kolkata are you getting a maid for 1k bruv 😂? In the outskirts probably you can get one for four times that salary. No one will work for you below 4k. Because people get treated with respect here, unlike many other cities.

I myself am living in Bagbazar (about 7km away on foot, metro station's just 600 meters away from my house) in a rented 2bhk builder floor, and I pay about 900 per month. The reason rent's so cheap here is because the buildings are so old. Definitely not in such a bad condition that it's been deemed as dangerous by the municipal corporation yet, and looks good enough from the outside. It might not be exactly in camac street, but you should look hard for deal within a 3km radius of that area. Kolkata is a city where even people who earn below 10k a month don't stay in PGs.

They deserve to lead at least a decent life for the work they put in, and they can't attend your house every single day to make your daily meals and clean your house for a couple of hours, as they also need to work in other houses.

Hey bro ignore pg in 4k u easily get 1 bhk flat in good location... Give 1k to maid he cook for u 2 times in a day... N your grocery expense around 2k n utility including mobile n internet around 2k.. N Transportation Max 2k... 10-11k u live comfortable life in Kolkata.. N if u live with your frnd in sharing its reduced toh 7-8k

10k for 1bhk 😂? I live in proper posh kolkata, won't disclose the location for obvious reasons, and pay about 900 rupees per month for a 2bhk builder floor on the second floor with views of the river, railway station, and ferry ghat, all of which obviously are about in 2 minutes walking distance. Also have two metro stations about 600 and 650 meters away. And you got the maid pricing wrong as well, no one will work for you even at 3k per month, forget 1k. Minimum you have to pay 4k, because everyone here get treated with respect. And you can't easily get a job with 30k per month salary here. 22-23k if you're lucky, otherwise most get below 20k. But obviously, it's the most affordable city to live in India, so if you like to live on a budget, even with a salary of below 10k, you can easily save around 1k-5k (maybe even more), every month by cutting back on spendings. Edit: And yellow taxis are always cheaper than Ola and Uber. I know, because I use it to commute every day. So IDK what you're talking about in that regard.

@@zarinski5089 It's 880 rupees to be exact. It's not a flat, it's an old house probably built in the british era. And all the repair work and maintenance need to be handled by us. My parents came here on rent over 30 years ago, so no, my parents don't own this house. In fact, they don't own any form of real estate.
