Hi , how your day . I am horng chuan , nice to know you Actually Singapore have one biggest problem , between blue collar & white collar salary gap is getting so huge nowaday Blue collar can as low as $1000 ... As you can see , nowaday even younger or 30s also work as grap food & grab car , security . Even those who have polytechnic or degree holder . As you can see , expenses is every year going up in Singapore , not only this 3 year . Can you imagine , a man with lesser then $2000 , after cut CPF . It only left $1600 . With $1600 , need pay all expenses , bill and support parent . You know many year ago , when I still a truck driver . My salary about $1500 ... After CPF about $1200 . I hardly can save money ... After sometime Singapore keep bring in FW to be driver . And they say because we lazy that why they bring in FW ... At that moment of time , I so angry , the salary is so low and they say because we are lazy that why they bring in FW ... What nonsense they talking . After sometime , Singapore expenses keep give up , I change job ... Miss , I telling you all this , just to let you Singapore is no more a good home . Singapore is alway getting more and more expensive after LHL in control . Our life , our work all in stress . As you can see , nowadays ppl easy to lost temper . Even off day want go out to find a place to relax , but every where we go , is so crowded and squeezy . Singapore no more a good country . They bring in all talent white collar , mostly they will willing to be PR and convent to citizen , due to they are talent , their job is secure and with high income and good benefits and good increase salary yearly and some more Singapore is safe . Because of so call new citizen , PAP until now hardly can being remove . You can see , new citizen every where nowaday . Because blue collar life have been screw up , alot of us want to VTO . But too bad , they being bring in alot of new citizenship . I tell you this , just to let you know . Singapore is not as good as what you think I was born in Singapore , I grow up in Singapore . I love singapore , but too bad , Singapore have change .

Depends what you want in life. SG is good for 1 yr. Then rent out your property(s) and rent in MY, TH, INDO, VIET, PHI with plenty to spare and enjoy a minimilistic, healthy and happy life. Only live in SG for long term if you have no choice eg. work, but hopefully work that allows plenty of foreign travel. I'm currently on a second visit to Singapore this year from Australia. Since early this year, the Australian dollar has fallen significantly against the Singapore dollar which appears to have held its value. I have lesser bang for my buck with AUD$1 now changing only SGD$0.88. Despite this, eating out and public transport is still cheaper in Singapore. Generally, my observations over the past many years is that if the simplest chicken rice meal is SGD$3, the equivalent in Australia is always roughly 3x or 4x more in AUD$. That means it is common to pay AUD$10-12 for something that resembles chicken rice, and just to add, around AUD$16 for something that resembles char kuay teow or nasi lemak. The strength of the Singapore dollar is also observed when I tried ordering some products from China. I would pay a higher amount in AUD$ but a smaller amount in SGD$. Another advantage that Singapore surely has is its proximity to, and probably mass economy of scale for transportation of products from, China. Shipping from China to Singapore is much cheaper than shipping to another continent including Australia.

Hello krazy koala, in Singapore is one of the highest cost of living here, usually the locals stays in HDB (Government subsidies Flats for all Singaporean) the mid range and expats stays in Condo & Private housing, depends on where they came from. Such as yourself is considered as expatriate. Living in Singapore as a Singaporean, some of us we have to budget ourselves. Cost of living in Singapore has risen dramatically. Public transport is always cheaper but after the Pandemic - everything just adds up even if you are not taking taxis or grab. Food and commodity is more expensive and war in Ukraine has not help. Covid has not help with the supply chain either. Rental has also skyrocketed because the lack of BTOs being built. Again caused by the Pandemic because most construction work is done by immigrants from India, Bangladesh and Myanmar. With the Pandemic, it is not easy to get foreign workers to come work in Singapore. Further to that, there is also increasing demand of housing in Singapore. I am sure you know that Hong Kong is no longer the financial center of Asia. Many expats in HK has shifted here. Chinese or HKers have shifted here, these factors drive up housing / rental even further.

U must have been sleeping. In western nations, inflation was caused by their sanctions on Russia. In Sg, it is mainly caused by mass foreign money in properties, which benefits no one but the rich, incl the gov ministers themselves, their friends and Temasek.

Especially with the covid, all countries are affected. Almost all places will have increase in costs. People have to be innovative. As for foods, the best way to save is to cook ourselves and eat. When we buy cooked food, we forget we are also paying for the salary and other stuff. There are people who will search for free foods. Anything to save a buck or two. The world not only change because of the costs but the way people think and do things. The internet plays a big part because there are so many ideas. The internet also offers ideas on how to save and how to find free or cheaper foods.

Our Government strategy to fight inflation and high costs of living is - "increase the cost of everything". Example, ERP, GST, Utilities, etc. That's how our Reserves, which supposed to be a secret is at least over US$1.5 trillion. And we continue to be successful because majority willing to work till death to pay their dues. Plus the Rich and Wealthy are Welcome to park their money here, apply for PR or Citizenship, thereby increasing the value, real or not, of the actual worth. In addition, we increase our productivity by importing low cost labor especially from surrounding countries. Presently, we have over 40% foreign population out of total 5.6 million. This will continue until the system can't.

I checked my town 3 room flat HDB rental ad i noticed a week ago most of the landlords been putting $ 3500. Several weeks ago i was amazed it was $3000. Before covid the norm is $1600 per mth. Yesterday i notice an indian guy in our lift and i ask if he is a tenant and he said yes. I ask about his rental cost he said in a sort of frustrated and helpless manner, 3000. He then added 3000 dollars. Thus this is not just a myth. I plan to rent out my house in medium term and live in Malysia and this could equate to MYR 10 000. The rental there is MYR 2500 or even 1500 for condo, landed house. Even if you throw in transport, utilities and whats not bills, you still have decent amount of money to spend on food etc. Actually i meant to say luxury. Imagine MYR weaken somemore. Ya. There is site we can even connect with potential tenants seeking for landlords with their photos. Yes the cost of living in Singapore is getting high with some biz jack up prices in the name of inflation. Sad of the young middle class they will spend a chunk on rising mortgage loan and inflation that eat into otherwise savings. Hope Singapore will not become Hong Kong. Govt need to keep the food prices in check at hawker centre since their rental are subsidized. Whats the point of subsidize them if they sell chicken rice at $4.50 like the coffeeshop ? Oic the mainland Chinese ? No wonder the rental hike. They have enormous population. Yes i heard of bidding of rents by prospective tenants. Some even bid without seeing the unit. Very good video. I am out of touch with the prices for even ordinary Singapore. This is not just high cost of living but daylight robbery. We need to re adjust our living expenses wisely or pay whatever they throw. My course trainer told us mths ago he own restaurant biz. He would love to take these opportunity to raise his prices but unfortunately the raise has went to pay power bill. My point is there are some biz which are opportunistic. Day before i notice NTUC fairprice selling 6 pcs type of bread increased to $ 1.50 from $ 1.20 i was shocked. I took a closer look the weight increase from 230g to 300g thats how the biz justify the increase. Smart move instead of lower the weight while maintain the price. They effectively increase the sales and price same time. Ppl will get use to paying. But with cheaper option on the same rack and better taste, i will forgo it. Yes transport is cheap compared other cities but every year the companies will try to hike the price. Thats why some ppl wanted these to be nationalize. You cant live without them. For me too bad i dont know how to cycle but i rely on walking. I hate to to top up my card every 2 to 3 days. There are some stuffs i stubbornly refuse to pay. This works cos i only walk out of my town once every few mths.
