Much respect to dive in and install a very labor intensive job like a cam install. Love the car and I'm sure it makes it much more enjoyable knowing that you are building it hands on unlike so many others

I did it by myself and made a few mistakes. Definitely went over the cost i was expecting. Also trying to find the right tuner to tune it properly gets expensive. Saving up that money for tuner #3 👀😢
@2averagenoobs1083 жыл бұрын
Was it hard? Also what mistakes did you make? I'm thinking of doing it myself because I got quoted 2K-4K just for installation of a 6.4L camshaft, which to me is absurd because it doesn't look very hard, I just dont have much of the time to do it, but if i can save a couple grand, I'm gonna make time lol

@@2averagenoobs108 Only time I had was after work. Was working past midnight for about 3 days. Should have taken less time than it should but I put head gaskets on opposite sides. Had to take the heads off and buy a new set of bolts and a new head gasket. Realized it was on the wrong side when trying to line up the gasket on the other side. Also one of my tuners told me the timing was off. All in all he made me tear the front apart just to find out it was a tuning issue.

Man, I'd LOVE to cam up my scat pack. In my case, it just don't make sense. #1, my car is new/5yr warranty I wanna keep, #2 I would imagine it ruins the resale value. Most common guys won't buy a jacked car. They're concerned it's had the snot ran out of it, concerned weather it was professionally installed, etc Would you agree? The performance upgrade would be sweet (30 or so hp?), but......I LOVE THAT CHOPPY IDLE!!!!?
@mr.sargent5222 жыл бұрын
nice video's man keep it up, but to be honest there are only non mds lifters and the new 2015 redesign hydro lifters for the MDS system, and R/T through hellcat the lifters are the same part number. don't get scammed for just the name hellcat. only way to get ride of the keep from getting the hemi tick if you think lifter will fix it.. it wont. just the hell cat oil pump will fix it to keep them lifters nice and wet with the higher oil presure. something to think about.

Just a heads up. The head bolts are reusable. They are not torque to yield they are torque to angle and you can reuse them with no issues.
@DonnySRT3 жыл бұрын
Torque to angle isn’t a measurement of whether or not the bolts will yield. In the additional 90 degree turn the service manual calls for, it can an often does cause elastic deformation
@sambo923 жыл бұрын
Head bolts are tty. They shouldn't be reused because they'll be stretched.

@DonnySRT3 жыл бұрын
Torque to angle doesn't mean much. It just means that an angular measurement is used instead of a "torque" measurement. It can yield when it's being turned "to angle" Im fairly certain. You can't reuse those bolts if the engine has undergone a heat cycle, that's for sure.

My Maggie cost me $6.5k with the tune. It's easier to install than a cam, as it's a bolt-on. It rips down low and continues to pull up high. It's perfect for street use as your mostly in 3rd and 4th gear, and rarely punching it from a dig, unless your that guy at the street light. The torque it adds is violent.
