A good cost break down for the most expensive place to study in Canada. Canada is much bigger than just Vancouver or Toronto. There are many amazing cities and high caliber post secondary schools across Canada in Alberta, Sask, Manitoba and the Martimes that are far lower cost and not flooded with international students and excellent pist graduate work opportunities as well. Another expence to factor in for 2021 is the cost of your mandatory 14 day quarantine period on arrival. (we hope that goes away by Sept 2021 but factor that.into your costs. Homestay can also be a lower cost fun option to renting or dorms.

Graduating from a Canadian university and immigrating to Canada are two different things. I am not sure if Canada has an easy path for foreign students to stay in Canada after graduation. in US, you will need to find an employer to sponsor you a H1B visa. Then you have to apply for Labor Certification (prove that you are not stealing American jobs) and then applying for Green Card. Competition for engineering jobs in Canada is fierce. After graduation, you will need to be licensed with the province as Professional Engineer. Canadian income taxes are high as compared to the US; this is because Canada has a "free" health care program (funded by taxes) for all citizens and landed immigrants regardless of employment status.

An acquaintance of mine said that you can choose public schools for cheaper option and do not choose universities. Also, opt for rural areas to study as the cost of living is lower. The amount mentioned are really mind-blowing. That's already 2M just for the cost of living for a year. Can somebody please relay a cheaper option please, like the cheapest for people like me who don't have relatives in Canada?

After seeing this, I got discouraged because the numbers that I need to prepare just gets increasing and increasing and I'm tired of running for those numbers. First, 1M then now, even 2M is not enough. And my colleague said average salary is 70k. How can that even cover for rent and food, so it's just the same here in the Philippines. I got discouraged but in a good way, at least I won't have to try so much. Thank you!

Hi Rachel, awesome and very informative video! =) I am new to your channel and I'm currently binge-watching all of your videos. I am also an international student here in Australia (I'm a Filipino btw), and I've been living in Australia for the past 2 and a half years. I already finished my cert 3 and cert 4 in commercial cookery and has been working in the hospitality industry most of my working life. A couple of weeks ago, I accidentally clicked of one of your videos which started my interest again in moving to Canada. I wanted to go there before but couldn't afford it since I was just working in the PH. Now that I am earning in AUD I might have a chance that is if I save well enough esp that tuition fees there are more expensive than it is here in AU. I am also exploring possible opportunities for EE and PNP, but my last resort would be to go for student visa again. Anyways, thanks for putting in the time and effort for these videos as It points us into the right way. May your generosity be given back to you a hundred fold.

Hello milord, I did in fact have a part-time job as a sales associate! At that time, I worked 20 hours per week earning $13/hr per hour. It surely wasn’t enough to support my living expenses in Vancouver but enough to support small day to day expenses like food, transit, phone plan. But if we factor in rent and all that adult stuff, I will not survive 🤪

Binge watching your vids right now, thank you!! I hope you notice my comment because I have several questions hehe. I am a highschool graduate from 2013, although I have acquired a certificate from TESDA back in 2019. I know you talked about knowing one's purpose before going to Canada, but I am torn. I want to take the International Student path like you did since I also want to get a degree, but won't be able to finance my studies. I've read in the comments that there are scholarship opportunities, but not entirely sure it would be enough to sustain my stay. On the other hand, I want to use my TESDA certificate to apply as a skilled worker. Which of my options is more feasible and would give me a chance on getting approved for Express Entry and hopefully getting an invitation for PR? Thank you so much. Hopefully my question would also be helpful others. 💕
@rrdancel3 жыл бұрын
Hi dear thank you so much for your question. It’s very well thought out and concise. If you want to apply as a skilled immigrant, first step is to see if you are eligible for EXpress entry and I covered an overview of this program found here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZ6pqmtqh7qNgLc Next, see where you stand in terms of CRS score. You can calculate it using this tool: www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp If you meet the min requirements for Express Entry and have a score above 470 - you may be eligible to apply. If not, you may consider doing the following to boost your CRS score such as studying in Canada, gaining more skilled work experience, retaking IELTS or etc. Studying in Canada can boost your score exponentially, but you will need to get your finances in order before applying 😊👍 There are also other immigration pathways that you may be best qualified for, but that requires you consulting with an immigration lawyer that can check your background and assess where you best fit. It’s better to know your options than not. Especially if you don’t have time to research everything or if the info you find is overwhelming to absorb. 😊👍

You can’t apply for a study visa until you have a letter of acceptance from a Canadian school and only then you can apply for a visa in THAT province. Mine is under review so I recommend applying to a school ASAP if you haven’t already because processing times vary based of COVID-19 and etc.

Hi Rachel. Do you think 40 yrs old is too old for the student pathway program? Your honest opinion is greatly appreciated. Thank you =)
@rrdancel3 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily for studies. My only worry is if you’re considering to do the Study to PGWP to Express Entry route, your age will be a limiting factor for the last stage. Express entry is a points based system, and age can account for 100-110 points. You don’t get any points for your age after 45 - and that decreases your chances of getting invited. Hence, there’s pressure to qualify for other PR programs which most times are employer-dependent (and that’s challenging to get) Those are just my two cents. If studying if for purely academic reasons, it shouldn’t be a problem. But the other challenge is convincing the visa officer that you’re a genuine student at 40. However, other people have done it. 😊 I don’t mean to sound discouraging, just offering my honest opinion. All the best 💕☺️

I mean most of us probably wanted to practice a debt-free lifestyle and if you have ideas regarding this, I have this major question if "mababaon ba tayo sa utang" for the next couple of years?
@rrdancel3 жыл бұрын
Well some schools offer this type of set up for tuition payment, You are still required to pay for at least one year of tuition fees if you decide to apply for the student direct stream (get your study permit faster) And if I were you, I’d make sure to secure the funds to pay for at least 75% of your tuition and living expenses in Canada. If you are hoping to work in Canada to finance your studies solely, then you will definitely be giving yourself a hard time. And the fact that you are only allowed to work 20 hours per week as a full-time student, can really weigh heavy on you. Best to have more than enough before coming to Canada 😊👍

My main problem is, I'm 18 years and I'm currently studying at high school and I wanna study a diploma after I finish my high school and, my parents don't have money to afford my studies in there, What is your concern about it? Can you help me out please?

Hi dear, thanks for your question. Yes it is very possible to have other people to financially support your application and your stay in Canada. Generally, the more funds you have, the better :) Might be good to include an explanation of your relationship with your sponsor and how they will support you in your SOP or Statement of Purpose.

Hi Mark, you’re very welcome! In terms of an age limit, if your goal is PR - I think there’s an age that may be too old to qualify because you gain the least amount of points. I’d say best time to study is between 19-30 years old. But if your goal short-term and is purely to gain knowledge or you’re an academic, then there’s no limit - you can study wherever 😜

Hi CJ, it really depends on the officer reviewing your file. It possible to get a SP approved even with not much family ties back in your home country but it's also possible to get rejected with that as the primary concern of the immigration officer reviewing your file. So to be safe, if you're uncertain about your application - it's best practice to seek legal help from an authorized rep :D

@rrdancel3 жыл бұрын
It should be stated in the admission requirements of your chosen program or school. But if you're planning to take 1-2 years of study, I suggest to apply for one now since ECA has a validity of 5 years. :) That way you have that document ready in case you plan to apply for PR via express entry. But if your school doesn't require it, you don't need one and can apply for it at a time that suits your timeline too :)

I've been in Melbourne Australia 2nd quarter of 2019 but as a dependent to my wife which is a student, I am not trying to discourage anyone but mas mabuti malaman niyo ang reality. Maganda lang ang student pag may relatives ka sa pupuntahan mo na incase mahirapan ka may tutulong at sayo. Advantage din kung may dependent but in our case sobrang hirap, pag lapag na pag lapag una mong iisipin paano ka makaka work and sure ako grabe ang competition, 2nd yung rerentahan mo at pagkain mo. Honestly hindi kayang i cover ng part time job mo yung expenses at tuition mo.
@rrdancel3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for sharing this experience. Also very sorry that you went through some struggles but I do hope you’re doing okay now. This is one picture of the reality most people would face; even like myself that already had a support system. It’s very difficult to transition talaga, and madaming iisipin. Kaya my advice to most people before coming to Canada is to secure MORE than enough funds. Di rin kasi natin alam ano magiging sitwasyon later on (like ako nadali ng covid, buti may savings + relatives!) We have to be prepared and it’s always good to have more than enough funds in this case ☺️👍 Thanks for enlighten our kababayans about immigration. Best to know than not...All the best 😊❤️

Hi, Rachel. I really loved ur video, however, why did u choose to include your tuition in ur living expenses as students normally pay off their first year's worth of tuition fee before coming to Canada. Also, do you think the $10 000 stated by IRCC would be sufficient to pay for rent, food, and other first year expenses? I ask because I've heard from many that Vancouver is quite an expensive city to live in. After watching your vid, it seems rent in some places might actually be cheaper then toronto
@rrdancel3 жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you for your question! The video mainly tries to answer the question of how much you will need to prepare before starting a study permit application. Some are just planning to start their journey to come to Canada and this video will give them an idea on how much they’ll need. As stated in the video, IRCC’s table is not reliable. $833 per month will not get you by in Vancouver. that’s the cost of rent alone. Also it depends on where you move so that table may apply to smaller towns or cheaper cities. 👍😊
