Among the mountains lives a hidden community: the Bribri Indians. Called “those who talk to the stones”, because of their unique and fascinating relationship with the mineral world. The stones they own were handed down to them by their God, “Sibù”, to allow them communicate with the underworld, and to heal on the Earth.

I love how much they value their culture, traditions, and language. So true how they talked about the Earth being alive and we must take care of it. How earthquakes and such are the Earth’s palpitations from it being mistreated. That all trees are important, but sacred trees must not be touched. That we must live in harmony with nature.

Native Language Study should be part of the curriculum and be mandatory studied by students to not be forgotten. I grew up learning 2 native languages in my country and English as a second language which I am fluent too. Every language on earth is an art that shouldn't be forgotten but rather preserved

Well said amigo. I am bilingual and bicultural... My first language Mexican Spanish. Knowing Spanish , as I did, paid off in countless ways.... like old music lyrics in Spanish cannot really be translated.....etc.... I am 88 yo, and those old songs still resonate in my soul.

I love this type of living... hate living in New York..having luxury clothes..nice apartment ..European car and organic foods .. I’d rather get up each glorious morning in an underdeveloped country with purpose for living and not just to pay bills and buy more STUFF that I don’t own but it owns me. The sound of thunder in the distance makes me quiver. I love romanticise for this lifestyle as it beckons me, I love the sound of thunder storm in the distant mountains and rain when it hits tin rooftop, and the musky aroma of soil getting wet from newly fallen rain drops as it gradually turns into torrential downpour.. the next morning you awake ..fresh air from jungle vegetation, singing birds, crowing cocks/roosters as you watch them beat their wings to signal the rain has stopped and a new day begins ... time for a cup of freshly picked herbs tea and warm, freshly -made bread 🥖 that perfumes the early morning air.... oh the memories I have. This to me is living.

I'm here before 100k subs. I cannot belive that this video is only 9 months old and don't even have 500 likes ? I mean how is that possible that people are so careless to not watch these masterpiece documentaries ? I feel irritated by fact that people are so ignorrant to values of life and creation. We adapt to changes but we are only few on this planet and we are crying because we see what majority is doing to all of us. Im a poor guy with big heart because i come from a modern world from the urban place and i got multicultural skills and rat's race is not for me. Have a good day everyone. I will not repeat it.

Many simple scenes that really made a enduring impression on my brain.... Just One as a point of reference was the closeup of the hen and her chick's. Keep the documentaries coming... well done in every respect? I am 88 yo and raised poor in a copper mining town. The city with its noise and distracting inventions can lure us away from enjoying elemental beauties and the true wonders of God's creations...

I am sorry to say this account is a bit disingenuous. “No power beyond here” yet power poles clearly visible on the side of the road, There are fairly large tourist resorts all around this area along the coast. Yes, there are still traditional people among them, but this is a very touristed area and any tourist can get an “authentic indigenous tour” for $30 and be back to their pools and cocktails in 20 minutes! I wonder if the film crew stayed in a big hotel each night while on this “wild excursion”

Looks way to hot for me. Hear the sounds who needs music when u have it naturally everyday..Oh women run the order. That’s why it’s still beautiful there. I watched another documentary on a village run by the women. It was very well run the huts where in the smallest breaks in the jungle. medicinal medication they use is incredible I was lucky to see a village and showed us so many things they do. They don’t kill spiders as they need them to spin web on their fishing tools. Then rubbed a leaf for if u have a toothache and I kid u not within seconds our mouths were numb ( they also use it for women giving birth) They took us to places around their camp ( though the main one we were not allowed to go to ( psst houses 😉) it they had their local goods for sale at a top price. It was strange as they said they make all these, yet we went to 5/6 islands and the same stuff was there lol. I have some beautiful Australian Aboriginal art that I bought off them direct no middle (China) man fully direct into their pockets. I’m glad to see them on here. Thank you. Way to hot for me...

I wonder how many chickens & ducks there , the dogs eat ? I know by just looking at that white dog with his ribs showing are not feed by there owner's , that's how animals survive on farms in most areas of Asia & South America. The domestic animals like dogs & cats has to fin for themselves. Or they will sell the dogs to a wet market or eat them. It's dangerous for domestic animals like cats & dogs on farms in a lot of countries over seas. In all 3rd world countries people are starving now, the people in these rural areas eat birds ,insects monkeys unless they are a religious figure forbidden to eat , the people eat there dogs & cats , they eat rats ,& bats , don't let these videos fool you, yes they show there culture, but only the good parts. I don't make this up,I know by facts & experience cultures over seas, especially in Asia .
@ingrid6295

"In all 3rd world countries are starving now... the people eat there dogs & cats, they eat rats & bats" Just because of this I can say that you speak from ignorance and stereotypes, although not everything is good, nor is it anywhere else or in first world countries, definitely not everyone is starving or eating rats or that kind of thing. It isn't part of the indigenous gastronomy that is also usually different from the rest of the country, so assuming that all countries live the same it implies ignored the fact that they are multicultural countries that also have different histories from each other. A country in Africa is never the same as in Asia or America, not all third world countries are the same.

Costa Rica is a linguistically diverse country and home to at least five living local indigenous languages spoken by the descendants of pre-Columbian peoples: Maléku, Cabécar, Bribri, Guaymí, and Buglere. Immigration has also brought people and languages from various countries around the world. Along the Atlantic Ocean in Limón Province, inhabited primarily by Afro-Caribs, an English-based creole language called Mekatelyu or Patua is spoken to varying degrees, as is English; many older Limonenses speak English as their native language. The Quakers community, who settled in Monteverde in the early 1950s, speaks an older dialect of English.
