My family is living in an extended stay hotel. We spent the holidays in this same place 2 years ago. We're making crockpot turkey and dressing, making some sides and buying pies for dessert. We're thankful for a safe place to live and still have our pets. We're thankful for my daughter and grandson having good jobs with benefits. Blessings are different for the various seasons of life. God shows His grace constantly.

Here in WNC we have people still in tents and some are fortunate to have donated older travel trailers. I am So Proud of You and the people that look like you!! I have lost 2 husbands , the first when I was in my 40s and the other one ( when I got brave again ) 9 years ago to cancer. So Very hard, hard to even think about going on with life!! But with God’s Help I am moving on- now with cancer of my own to fight. I am 76, but again with God’s Help , I am fighting again! I teared up so many times throughout this video. So real life. Us Mom's just keep going and usually want so little, like a one hour nap every now and then. You are doing great and floors that don't match, food someone else cooked, and cranberries that don't make it to the table, DON'T MATTER. Your kids seeing their mom getting up and taking names and kicking ass every day, and still making beautiful holiday memories, is all that matters.

Absolutely true. We fona community thanksgiving pot luck and the ovens at our church decided to not work properly. 2 12 lb turkeys and 6 hours later they were still not cooked, the over was hot but it was 150 deg lower then the dial, luckily everyone was fine and we had other food and my husband took 1 turkey and put it on the grill he used for a pork roast. Turkey was the last thing served as most were already full lol. We just keep going

The reality for me is i am in so much chronic pain this year. I can’t possibly cook for my family. I did something i have never done! Called Cracker Barrel and they are cooking the feast for me!!! My kiddo and I just couldn't wait till Thanksgiving for some turkey. So a couple days ago I baked one and we've been eating on it 2 or 3 times a day, lol. I cook my turkey like my mama taught me. Heaping handfuls of bacon grease and salt, nothing more. We like to taste the turkey not alot of seasonings. We eat steak the same just salt and pepper. Because you want to taste the steak not the marinade, etc. Watching you and the excitement that is oozing kinda makes me jealous. I miss my people but I know they are with me in memory, God rest their souls. For a hot minute I was thinking about cooking the full spread and handing out plates to the local homeless. I don’t usually comment on brand deals, but that lune deodorant really works. I’m an active person and work in a high temperature environment. It doesn’t smell great to me when I put it on, but it’s pleasant once it dries down. The pink one, Peony rose is my favorite, but even the unscented works. I’ve only tried the creams, but interested in the spray too. Weird tip but if you wear gloves a lot for your job, it really feels nice on the hands too.

Lower cost items can be used with smaller portions for widows/widowers: Turkey wings, or Turkey breast , or Ham steaks,or whole chicken'/ hen, roast beef - Stove to stuffing, Green beans and cream of mushroom soup- for green bean cassarole- jiffy cornbread mix-can of pie filling and frozen pie crust . You have a whole thanksgiving feast!

Jamerille when I saw the skip in your step and heard the joy in your voice while you were setting out the plates and decor I cried. I cried for you, for me and for all the other Momma's who have had to go through the fire of hell and come out again and continue on because we are MOTHERS and we will, under any circumstance come back and if we get knocked down we get back up, I have had to find my joy in small things here and there, we all do. We all find our new joy in our new life as we can, for some it will be perhaps a new dress, for others it might be a new toaster they've always wanted and for others it might just be reall cute pumpkin plates and napkins. We find joy in so many small things in our new lives because we have come through the unthinkable, and now we see the world very different. I believe God sort of cleanses us in a way, thru the truama and thru the grief, the tears we shed cleanses our window so that going forward we might find joy in the smallest trival things, because he is a good and kind and gracious God and he knows, we need it. Wishing you and your family a truly wonderful NEW Thanksgiving.

I am so happy to know that you did not back down on the entire feast. That is a lot of people to serve. Hubby and I are going to Daughter’s house but is still less than your seating chart registers. Remember that Christmas decor television competition?Well the family that won a few years back lives about 3 blocks from their old home. That was such fun to walk over and look for new displays. My daughter and SIL moved to a new home a few years ago and no longer visit their Christmas Heaven. My SIL was literally an Eagle Scout. He was part of a military family. His mom is Italian and father is Mexican, so you can imagine that his palate was much more diversified than mine. Girlfriend, he is a magnificent cook! I am so lucky. Good for you. I am so proud of you. You’ve come a long way baby , but you have the scars to prove that you have put in the work to stand on your own. So Proud !!!

I am bless that my older sister always comes over on Wednesday before Thanksgiving to clean & vacuum while I do the food prep. Then she sets the table, I always select my serving dishes & I place sticky notes on them so every knows what goes in each dish. I always have a complete list of everything I am serving taped on the cupboard. This has saved me so many times. Nothing gets left in the fridge. This is my Mom’s favorite holiday, she is 96 years olds. I am blessed to be caring for her in the house she moved into in 1954. I am fixing Thanksgiving here for my brother & sister that are in town. Lay down flat has a magical power. In September of this year my life changed forever and I'm currently in that moment for who knows how much longer but laying down flat. I'd only have a couple hours at home and I'd say I need to lay out in the bed, kids can come talk to me but I need to lay out in the bed with my legs straight. That rest and 1 to 2 hour sleep is what keeps me going ❤

While shopping for T’giving, if you’re doing a whole big meal, get yourself some meal prep/take away containers like Hefty or Glad and portion out your leftovers into complete individual meals. Then stick them in the freezer until you can look at turkey again!
