Thank you so much. Yes, it was my cervical injury that pulled my jaw out and has caused a chronic jaw tremor. Had a TMJ MRI with dedicated coil, then an appointment with the brilliant Brendan Stack, DDS. The MRI showed that the TMJ discs were displaced laterally towards the tongue. This was not reported by reading radiologist. Then had an appointment with his surgeon ( 25 years ) who places the discs in the correct position, flowed by specific bracing to hold the jaw while healing. Was told this : people who have discs slipped laterally tend to have more neurological symptoms , fewer pain symptoms. ( true for me) People with discs slipped forward tend to have more pain symptoms, fewer neuro symptoms. I sure hope neurologists are paying attention to the important information in this videos.

This is awesome! My TMJ is finally improving after following Dr Hauser’s treatment recommendations. It took almost a year to get to where I am because Hypermobility Ehlers Danlos Syndrome has so many problems to address. But it is so liberating to not have TMJ pain any morel!

These videos are so good. I worked in dentistry for 40 years and did many splints and I had several over the years myself. Most patients get great relief from the splints that are made from the impressions of their teeth. The store bought splints can really throw the joint off. Some patients don't get much relief. This is very interesting. I also had a patient that had intracranial hypertension that was diagnosed a few years before I retired. I had never heard of it before. She was a nurse and I don't even know if she even knew what it was. I was an assistant for 16 years in orthodontics and a dental hygienist for 24 years in a general practice. I wish your practice was close to me so that I could get adjusted for neck stability. Thank you and God bless you.

Have you seen patients recovering from cervical instability after wearing a occlusal flat plane splint? Prolotherapy isn't working for me. But I'm a bit afraid to try a splint.

Great talk! This is also why upper cervical work is frequently coupled by some kind of palatal expansion since the two conditions of malocclusion and upper cervical displacement are very correlated. I am a patient of Vivos with their mRNA device, and they even check your posture development over time while in the device because you wouldn't think it, but malocclusion has a lot of crossover with craniocervical instability and other neck conditions. The fatigue on the jaw and on that joint interact with the upper neck sinews and ligaments.

Dr Hauser, you were an excellent doctor today! This video uploaded only six hours ago, and it it by far the newest of the many videos I’ve recently viewed from Caring Medical. I expect we will soon meet, because I no longer have any other options, and then I luckily stumbled across my first of several 2-hour lectures from you. I believe I could test many of your theories, but my history started with scoliosis that runs in my family, although I never regarded that as a problem for most of my life. The larger issue was the cascade of problems after my skiing accident- bad he’d and neck injury, but only diagnosed with a torn meniscus in right TMJ. This led to a locked jaw for a year. I tell the gruesome rest another time. Going to drift into peaceful sleep now 🤪

Bruxism is actually super common to be a result of sleep apnea. If people grind their teeth at night but aren't otherwise too stressed out, they're probably having obstructed breathing, then the jaw muscles tighten and grind the teeth in an automatic nighttime response to try to unobstruct the airway. If you grind your teeth at night, I'd recommend a sleep study, and obviously, also wear a mouthguard at night. If you have sleep apnea, you could use a mandibular advancement device if it's not too bad.

I think this is the cause of the headaches I get every morning. I do have TMJ problems, arthritis and the cartilage has wared out in the joints above. I just finished TMJ therapy. I need Gum surgery soon and I needed the TMJ therapy to open my mouth more and to relax the muscles, to get ready for the surgery. I think my problems are the result of an auto accident I had when I was young and my head received a lot of trauma. Thank you for this explanation! The Maxilofacial doctors never explain all the things you explained here.

I so wish I had the money to come to your practice. I've had jaw problems for almost 20 years. Didn't bother me as bad as it used to but now I have near constant migraines that are bad (feel like pressure in my skull) so I'm fairly debilitated. Extreme fatigue, dizziness, nausea, blurred vision. I've been sick for a few years, trying to hold onto my job but currently can't work. It's taking my life from me.

36 years old and have had tmj issues and migraines for as long as I can remember. With insomnia and bruxism, someone guessed sleep apnea. Within the past year I've had my jaw locked upon awakening maybe a half a dozen times - unable to get a finger's width past my teeth - and its resolved when I wiggle my jaw swiftly and repeatedly sideways. Sometimes it audibly clicks if opened wide enough. Can definitely be felt. The whole cervical issue makes sense. Thank you for a nice presentation!

I have head injury to my frontal/parietal joint also my mother used to hit me in the jaw which caused me to have 6 full bony impacted teeth which caused me a lot of pain when eating when I was about 13 I had to have the teeth extracted from my jaws because they could not emerge a little later in life I had to have my wisdom teeth extracted because of full bony impaction as well.. I have had trouble eating most of my life as a result along with ringing in my ears, dizziness, difficulty swallowing, headaches ect..What has helped me so much is cranial sacral therapy, and nuero muscular therapy to my anterior cervical muscles and the muscles that. attach to the tmj. I learned to do it on myself because it is so painful that I just can't let anyone else do it to me. I do have a therapist for the cranial sacral therapy. The therapy I do on myself can last for months and it will totally stop the tennitis, head aches and, pain that runs down my arms. I practice good posture. I know most of my problems are about my Vegas nerve Something has fired up my Vegas nerve again and I know I am going to have to do the tmj/anterior cervical routine again sometime soon. I look forward to the relief it will give when I do it but the pain of the routine is something that I have to do a lot of convincing of myself to do.

In 1995 I had a dentist dislocate my jaw and had horrific pain and spasms for approximately 5+ years. I had to beg an oral surgeon to send me for physical therapy which helped immensely. What I finally had to do was not where my mouthpiece while taking muscle relaxers to break the spasms. When you are wearing a mouthpiece it's shortens and weakens the muscles. I had to perform exercises to strengthen the muscles in my face. I couldn't even eat pizza.

Yes, but that jaw instability comes from the dental malocclusion and asymmetry. That's what forms the jaw and the teeth will lock the jaw in that position every time the jaw closes.

Dr. Hauser, you really care about people. I really appreciate all your videos. I watched all of them. Very informative and so important for people who struggle with chronic neck pain and lots of unexplained symptoms. What about aligners to straighten teeth? It seems to me that my neck instability started after wearing smile direct aligners for 6 months every night and a few hours a day. I'm doing Nucca adjustments now and want to see if that helps with my pain. If that fails, I will certainly come to your office in Florida.

Hi Ewelina Sandell, thank you for your very kind words. Yes, many patients report that they feel their symptoms worsened after long dental procedures or after trying various dental techniques that were focused on their jaw but it ended up being primarily a neck issue that was causing their symptoms. It is not unheard of in our clinical experience because of the patient population we see, as many of them have tried years of dental and other medical treatments before they try Prolotherapy. We wish you all the best and hope you will see a lot of success with your NUCCA provider. If you feel that you need to see our team in the future, you are welcome to reach out to us directly. All the best in healing to you!

Thanks Dr Hauser ! At 14:50 you mention than "talking can trigger neurological things". I believe this is my case. 6 months ago I had two sessions of hyperbaric chambers (after a surgery); followed by some earing problems (5 episodes of sudden hear loss on low frequency; earing is now back to normal; Valsalva works fine FYI. No barotrauma was diagnosis though!), hyperacusis, tinnitus. I have also noticed that overtime my jaw position changed (no severe TMJD diagnosed though) I did all sort of tests (ENTs, MRI, blood test, Osteopath, etc). When I talk (not chew), the vibration of my voice gives me pain in the ears, to a point that I stopped talking. Every word hurts my ears and my throat. Lifting/pushing weight, traveling in a shaky vehicle also hurts. Would you have any idea what this is; and how can I take an appointment with you please? THANKS

Thank you so much for the video Dr. Hauser. It is so informative with detailed anatomy🙏Have been suffering the TMJD(right side) related temporalis, masseter, and ear swishing for about 5 years, recent year it went down into my right side throat even, feel inflamed, burning, straning from the inside of lateral pterygoids, up to soft palate muscle, down to pharyngeal constrictors. Eating, open mouth wide make it worse. I have been receiving the neuroprolo for three months now and had just my first PRP done two days ago(mylohyroid, stenohyroid, omohyroid, masseter, and TMJ ligament), Is the stylohyroid muscle and ligament treatable with prolotherapy? I have been seeking doctors who could treat the area for years, and usually they don't feel comfortable to inject stylohyroid area, they said because there are lots of nerves and main artery around and next to it. Would you feel comfortable treating it with Prolo and PRP? I would really appreciate your input! 🙏 Sincerely, Helena Ma

Hi I have been struggling with debilitating symptoms of dizziness, vertigo, brain fog, vision and hearing issues tinnitus, pain jaw and neck and believe it's coming from my TMJ which all started after surgeon wrongly did steroid injections into both jaw joints in operation when he shouldnt have done this as second opinion it wasnt needed. Anyways now for 12mths have all these debilitating symptoms and now unable to walk so unbalanced and dizzy cant eat only liquids past 12mths.....floor feels like water and my life as single mum of two boys has now become living nightmare unable to care my boys let alone myself....cant leave house. Ruined my life and no one here in Australia to help left like this. Spent 3 weeks neurological ward hospital and sent home still unable walk......I have been wearing night flat plain splint and does the same as the girl you mentioned beginning video I think it's making me worse. Should I stop and could acupuncture help is it TMJ......or my neck as my neck upper near skull hurts heaps think soft flat pillow doesnt help.

Is it possible that the cause of the instabiliy is the position of the jaw and teeth? Like if you don't have EDS, is it more likely possible to fix the cervical instability with a splint? I've done loads of prolotherapy and it didn't worked for me. Maybe other people without EDS who healed from instabiliy after wearing a occlusal flat plane splint?
