Very well explained indeed. There is one thing which I found disputable. Structural unemployment might not always be bad. I think that it is a sigh that there is technological advancements and robots are taking over a lot of jobs which eventually lead to higher productivity and higher-quality goods.

I agree, but that is only for consumers , for workers this would cause a lot of redundancy

Would you also talk about a reduction in inflation as a benifit of unemployment ? - relating to the Phillips curve

Another cost to the economy may be loss of skilled workers or workers in general. When it is difficult to find jobs labour will become discouraged and lose confidence in the UK economy. They will then search else where with lower unemployment levels to ensure they are not losing income and stabilise financially. This is specifically applicable to the UK economy as we have high levels of migrant workers from countries such as Poland, these workers were not afraid to move countries for economic gain so they will not be afraid if there is little benefit left for them in the UK economy. As a result LRAS will shift backwards causing a reduction in potential output and may cause inflation dependent on the position of the economy

so in the case of hysteresis as you said that the skills of workers are outdated, so can we consider it as a reduction in the quality of labour i.e which reduces the potential growth of an economy if it is on a large scale (shown by a leftward shift in the LRAS)?

At 2:32 could there be fiscal deficit?
@zeekayy89065 жыл бұрын
Yes, a fiscal deficit leads to borrowing in order to finance government spending which he mentions later.
