🌙 ABOUT ME 🌙
Hi! My name is Alice and I love books! I read just about everything from classics to contemporary fiction, adventures to mysteries, fantasy to all kinds of non-fiction - and I love reviewing and recommending books, and just generally having a chat about literature. I also adore baking, hot chocolate, crafts and basically everything cosy, soft and peaceful. I currently live in Oslo, Norway.

Hi Alice, great selection, I love cosy mysteries. Miss Marple did first appear in a collection of short stories called The Thirteen Problems about a group of friends who meet each week to discuss murders. I think Richard Osman has said that's where he took the inspiration from for The Thursday Murder Club. Love the Phryne Fisher books too.

'Thursday Murder Club' sounds a bit like 'The Little Old Lady Who Broke All the Rules'. I found the latter challenging to stay engaged with, so I will have to give 'Thursday Murder Club' a try! I'm delighted to see someone else try out 'The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie', as Flavia de Luce and all ten of her books are some of my favourites!! - Les

So far my favourite "cozy" mysteries are by Agatha Christie and Seishi Yokomizo. Just give me a classic detective or murder mystery which doesn't take itself too seriously and I'm hooked. The honkaku genre (Japanese murder mysteries) really hits the same spot as Christie's books. The modern police thrillers and neighbourhood detectives are often just over the top and most of the times I'm just annoyed by the neighbours getting in the way of the police investigation and getting away with it (looking at you Marlow Murder Club). I just can't suspend my disbelief and they are pretty predictable.

Hey, Alice -- I love your videos! I've read most of these series and enjoyed them all. A few others come to mind you might like: *Lily Adler Series by Katharine Schellman (set in London 1815) *First Edition Library Mysteries by Marty Wingate (set in modern-day Bath) *Mrs. Pollifax Series by Dorothy Gillman (think Miss Marple as New Jersey widow turned CIA agent) *Finley Donovan Series by Elle Cosimano (Virginia author mistaken for a hitman, hilarious shenanigans ensue with her nanny Vero)

Hi Alice I love reading Cozy Mysteries. They are my kind of Mysteries to read. You have a lot of good ones that you mention in this Video. I have read some of the Peabody Mysteries by Elizabeth Peters. I also read the first book - The Murder Club Mystery by Richard Ossman. Now I just need to read the rest of the books in the Series of both of these. You look so pretty. I just love the way you wear your Hair. I use to have Blond Curly Hair when I was younger. If I let my hair grow out it will start to get real curly. I have to keep my hair short because it is so ungodly thick and once it starts to grow out you can’t do nothing with it. I am reading Death Under The Dryer by Simon Brett. He is one of my all time favorite Mystery Authors. I have been reading his books for years. Take Care & Happy Reading ❤️🤗📚🔰📒📖🍁🍂☕️❤️

I’ve really enjoyed The Thursday Murder Club series, thanks to you! So, I’m anxious to try some of these others. I have read Death by Dumpling and was disappointed, darn it! I had high hopes for the series. Also read The Mitford one, and it kind of dragged, so won’t read anymore of those. Thanks for always sharing your experience!

Phrine Fisher is amazing and I love her. Of course Agatha Christie books are classics for a reason. Flavia de Luce is such a fantastic character. Those books are great. I read Vera Wong this year and absolutely loved it. I laughed a lot plus there was found family in the book, which I loved. Arsenic and Adobo was fun. The third audiobook in that series just became available for me on libby and I'm excited to read it soon.

I recently read "The Nanny" by Gilly MacMillan. It was a very good book. The main character had a Nanny who she loved who disappeared without any real explanation. She grows up and moves away but then comes back to live with her mother after her husband dies and the hijinks ensue. Another book I want to read is "The Housemaid" by Freida McFadden, it's had really good reviews.A couple hires a maid, not knowing that she's a criminal (she didn't put it in her resume).🙂

Hi Alice! Just wanted to make you aware of the new cozy that just came out in the U.S., called ""The Christmas Orphans Club". I can't do holiday romance cozies and this one is on my TBR. It's less romance focused.

Thank you for this video! So far I liked only the Thursday Murder Club series (and Christie’s of course). But rn I am in the middle of Murder Before Evensong, it is quick, a bit witty, and it is def a cozy one.

I love cosy mystery with magical realism or with a witchy vibe. Eiterwise, it feels more like a detective story? Which I also enjoy ❤ one really good witchy autumnal mystery I just read is In the Company of Witches by Auralee Wallace. It was really good! I also really enjoy the series about Beatrix Potter who solves murders and mysteries in The Lake District at the same time as the animals in and out of the village are solving them. They are really cute, funny and England in the 1920s and forward 🥰🥰 first book is called The Tale of Hill Top Farm by Susan Wittig Albert ❤

Have you heard about the Miss Fortune series? The first book is called Louisiana Longshot, and I believe there's 25 books total in the series. I really loved it as a palate cleanser between dark books.

Great recommendations! Have you read Anthony Horowitz’s series featuring a fictional version of himself and a detective named Hawthorne? I appreciate the humour in them. The first one is The Word is Murder; there are four so far. The audiobooks are particularly fun. I would also suggest Alexander McCall Smith’s No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series, set in Botswana. If you like his style, he’s very prolific and has some other light-hearted mystery series beyond this one.
