I'm glad you had such a Cosy Reading Night. If I had a fireplace, I would probably spend most of my time near it reading particularly on cold rainy days. I worked during the Cosy Reading Night but hope to join in another time.

I'm the same with "why we broke up" - just read it this past week after it being on my radar for about 5 years. I was super confused for some of it with how it was written but I read it because it intrigued me and then I ended up really enjoying it towards the end. I'm so mixed on it and I do think it's because of the style and way it was written more than the content of the story itself :)

i had the same problem with why we broke up, it's kinda jarring to read dialogue that is written the way people actually speak. hopefully you end up liking the way turn of the key ends, i had enjoyed the book a lot all the way up to the ending but thought the end was a bit of a let down

I didn't hate Why We Broke up, but I really didn't love it either, I found the protagonist annoying, especially for her pretentiousness about film (I probably saw myself in that and didn't appreciate it) and I also felt like the art didnt add anything for me and the style of painting really wasnt for me. Daniel handler's books are always polarizing, and after loving The Basic Eight and being completely baffled Watch Your Mouth I was expecting something more, or weirder, or surprising and it just wasn't any of those things for me. I actually feel similar about The Turn of the Key, enjoyed reading it but found the main character annoying and the surprise didn't wow me, but definitely didn't hate that one either.

@@DrinkingByMyShelf I have one of his newest books The Dirty Parts on my tbr and its the lowest rated of all my unread books on goodreads so it doesnt look like he'll stop being a polarizing author anytime soon, but I still get excited to read his work. I think hes written a few more as well that I've never read.
