Great start at Rochelle with all those UP Locos. I liked the sound of the MOW Truck's Gears as it towed those 4 Ballast Hoppers at Oklahoma, I presume it has a Hydraulic Drive? The Bridge Finale was interesting. I wondered if the Piers will be retained, for a Pedestrian Crossing, for example? Watching the Bridge come down, using all that modern Equipment, I imagined how it would have been originally installed, when not much of that kind of machinery existed, or was in common use.

14:24 You have to wonder how fatigued and corroded those steel bridge sections are, after decades of service in Barstow's desert climate. A post-mortem metallurgical analysis would be interesting (to this engineering nerd, anyway).
@gp38295 ай бұрын
Me too.
@modeltrainsandtracks5 ай бұрын
Given how hard it was to break up the truss bridge sections, I doubt metal fatigue was the primary issue. I suspect the bridge sections would have solved problems for some heritage railroads - shame they were too big to move. At least Barstow has a pretty new concrete bridge to carry all the extra traffic - I am guessing that there is lots of new development north of the railroad there?
@J3scribe5 ай бұрын
@@modeltrainsandtracks Not much development north of the railyard. I reckon they just wanted a 4 lane bridge for some reason.

It's used to unload dry bulk commodities from ships and barges, so it's more like a vacuum. Van Aalst also makes something similar for loading, too, which may work like a pump. They have a KZbin channel with demonstration videos.
