One of the best explanations of this I’ve ever heard. Never realized that I was doing this but it’s almost exactly how I learn tunes. With so much access to step by step tutorials these days, I see younger players that can play the notes but have literally no ear for music. If they don’t have tabs or a video, they simply can’t learn a song. Great breakdown here on how to start developing that ear, Richard.

This is just fantastic content! Played a lifetime but was in a severe auto accident, breaking my back and neck leaving me with limited ability to control my hands and fingers and trying to claw my way back. I'm so glad I found your channel, which despite my physical limitations, is always personally inspiring to keep the mental parts working through analyzing and understanding this great music (guitar in particular). Many thanks for your well thought out and presented videos. Inspiring on so many levels, Richard!

Hey man! I'm so sorry to hear that, it sounds really rough. Massive kudos to you in continuing your journey of learning (I often think it's all the cerebral stuff that matters the most) and I'm really glad you're getting something positive out of my videos! All the best, Rich

„Smart, 80ies Pop Music“ I never called it that way but, yes, absolutely! That’s the best way to describe it with as few words as possible. It is also my favorite genre of pop music :) Great video as always and thanks for sharing

This was a fantastic video and lesson! Really appreciate you sharing this. Very well explained, and although I have danced around bits and pieces of what you taught, your explanation really helped bring clarity for me and really connected some dots. Love it. Thank you! Will watch this again many times and implement these ideas into my practice.

This was great! I know all this in theory but once the lights are on it goes out the window. Hardest thing is to think what changes flow underneath when I’m playing. My ears tend to guide me. But cliffs are close and sometimes behind me as I went of them 😂Thank you from downunder.

Glad you found it helpful, man! Playing though changes is always a challenge, for sure!

@@RichardWatsonSpecially hard to change patterns and habits once you get comfortable with just having a blow over some standard changes... So everyday I now use iReal Pro to just add random two three chords and deliberately play over them. Or songs from gigs where I went to guessing land for some non diatonic stuff ;) Just got my EBMM Luke3 HSS... so good. No shortage of wanting to play that thing

Hi. Who was the artist that recorded Blame it on the night? Thank you. Great work.
@RichardWatson Жыл бұрын
It was Finis Henderson. The album this track is from is called "Finis" from 1983 - ALL the session cats are on it; Landau, PJJ, Luke, Abe Laboriel, etc. Thanks David!
