Naomi has shipped me eggs the last 2 years to hatch in my classroom. She has been a wealth of information and my students love seeing the entire hatching process and keeping them in the room throughout the year.

Terry - awesome interview, questions, content, and flow. Thank you !! I am hoping to get started raising meat and eggs for my family of 7 this year. You were my first quail KZbin site! I work in Kansas City so I am hoping to get eggs from Naomi (Meat Maker and maybe Celadon).

I've replaced my jumbo brown lines with kc quails meat maker line. I believe I ended up with 480 eggs. Local pickup to avoid the horrible shipping losses this year. Great hatch rate, (best hatch rate for me all year) big chicks, big bodies n good layers. Great customer service, will be doing business with her again

In regards to the dying quail chicks it could also be the size of the feed. If the particles are too big it will seem like their pecking but they wont eat. Grind the feed!

Q - How do you keep track of your hatch's, lines AND generations?

When using the gravity fed water system with a 5 gallon bucket and the fish tank heaters, does that also keep the water in the 1/2 pvc lines from freezing as well?

My 35 pound mountain feist gets raw eggs as treats. Sometimes he gets barfy if he eats the shell on an empty stomach. They are great and healthy though but I just try to feed them after he has eaten in the last few hours.

How do you deal with birds that pull feathers out of other birds just to eat the feathers? Even a couple chickens do same thing ? I have grit and sand , but these feathers eaters I eat them to protect others

Higher protein & add light, at least 14 hrs of light per day. Sounds like they're molting, stress or reduced daylight without knowing your setup 🤔

Got some eggs from Kansas City Quail Farm and it didn't go too great. All but one hatch were all stargazers and died the first week. Went with a local keeper for my current birds but needed to bread out some aggression. 6/0 (10sf cage) Pharos and the girls keep killing the males (not being breed). I've got a cage of 8/2 (10sf cage) A&M and I think they are a friendly batch. Then lastly 7/1 (10sf cage) of Jumbos.
