Ab-Soul and Princess Nokia are two of the brightest talents in hip hop today, so we got them together to talk on our couch.
They covered a lot of ground, including but not limited to: hip hop’s male allies, whether musicians should get political, and why Princess Nokia’s never giving up the word bitch.
Check out their latest releases:

KeeSe Escobar well maybe you are. assuming that the only thing every man think about women is their body is totally anti-feminist. peer pressuring other man so they think they have to think this way about women if they wanna be man enough. that's silly. patriarchy hits badly men too. one love.

i thought the same thing as you Mach6_ while watching the video. then i thought, there's often someone talking more in a conversation. nobody gives a shit when it's the man who's talking more. it's only normal. maybe it's okay for a woman to talk more. especially when you're talking feminism, chances are the woman has more things to say. makes sense to me.

I think he came at it from the angle of a heterosexual man giving his perspective on feminity as only an heterosexual man can. What's alarming is, if you did this(I can't accuse you of such based of one comment you made, you boxing him in with every phony that uses women's sexuality to push a negative stance.

Deep convo between Soulo and Princess Nokia. Was just talking to mom dukes the other day about music and the current state of hip-hop music in general. She's 61 and she had her era of music in the 60's 70's and 80's that I also grew up listening to. I'm a product of the 80's, 90's, and what I find as dope music that's not on the radio in the 2000's...just really glad to be a product of the Golden Era from the 80's to 90's though. Speaking of which a lot of female MC's from that era that included Sista Souljah, MC Trouble (R.I.P), Nikki D, Monie Love, Queen Latifah, Yo-Yo, Da Brat, Salt-N-Pepa, Apani B. Fly, MC Lyte, and Lauryn Hill just to name a few embraced feminism with their music that battled topics like being a female rapper in a male dominant industry, domestic violence, drug addictions, and even being called bitches and hoes. In a odd twist though you don't see too many female MC's nowadays who oppose with being called a bitch or a hoe by their male counterparts. Females tried to diminish that stigma in the 80's and 90's from men, nowadays I hear women calling each other bitches and hoes more than dudes call them that now. It would be nice to see a female rapper(s) who is dope on the mic like their former predecessors who paved the way for them not to be taken as a joke or being called out of their name. In a time when sex sells, it still would be refreshing to see a female rapper stand out who is beyond that bullshit and stands her ground in substance and gets the respect she deserves as a dope MC or DJ.
