Hey all!
It has been awhile, we're back for abit of a chat about where we are in 2022 and what our plans are going forwards.
We discuss some exciting modification upgrades for the B48s and N20 and discuss what we hope to achieve with out built N20 this year.

Would you per change know what the limits on the stock internals of the N20 are compared to the B48? I know the N20 is open deck and the B48 is closed deck, therefore, I’ve been wondering just how much more capable the B48 is compared to the N20. I’ve been on the lookout for either a 2016 328i (N20) or a 2017 330i (B48) I’m just not sure if the more expensive 330i with the B48 is worth it.

I'm not "in the know" of what heads are being used for the higher horsepower n20's and b48's. Are you looking into getting your head ported for the twin turbos efficiency? (even the turbo itself potentially) I know VAC Motorsports sells a "stage 3" 5 axis CNC ported head, but it would be easier to commission someone to port it locally. How much efficiency do you think a ported head could make and in your case are you porting?

We have seen the limit of the stock head in regards to flow, despite Vanos adjustments and bigger turbos the stock runner diameter allows for a max of 130% Volumetric Efficiency, and Peak HP even on big turbos occur around 6200-6500RPM at most. We haven't ported the head on the world record cars we tuned, we are contemplating on how much of a port we will do on ours. The more we port it the more cam timing tuning we will need to do and from what we've seen unless you plan to go over the 600WHP mark on Dynojet (or 600HP crank on low reading dynos) porting is not necessary. Definitely recommend doing it over those numbers

how much more whp or hp would you get from a completely stock 328i with a tune that has maximum potential outputs compared to a 328i with upgraded rods and cylinders with a e85 upgrade ???

N20 stock engine and stock turbo max we have seen is 320WHP on an aggressive tune with E85, usually the average is 310-315WHP on Dynojet on E85 and FBO (including the upgraded HPFP) Stage 2 turbos usually sit around 350-360WHP on 93 at most but most of the upgraded turbos don't perform very well and its why we recommend custom turbo setups.

Hey, We are running 2x B48A20T01 Turbos (the turbo that is discussed throughout the video + the demo we have on it towards the end of the video).

Love your explanation and insight, watched the whole n20 series on brintech. Just wondering what is the cost of the whole project?

On average a built n20 with upgraded turbo, FBO, trans tune, DME tuning etc will set you back between $22K & 28K AUD depends on the turbo setup and cost of labour and specifically what parts installed CP carrillo rods are nearly triple the price of the max speeding rods. just building the engine to support 600HP comes in around $18K AUD with parts and labour - might be cheaper in other countries. We do sell forged upgrade kits for these engines

@@NavardiTuned good to know, I am in Sydney. Owns a 2015 528i since new, now with 86000kms on it. Been running jb4 since 20k and changed to bootmod3 last year. Torn between upgrading to a newer car or keep this year for a few more years

@@NavardiTuned awesome. Currently I got ftp charge pipe, wagner high flow catted down pipe, bootmod3 ots map and got 176wkw on the dyno. Couldn’t find a damn intercooler that fit on a f10 series n20. I would be happy if I can get 350ish crank hp but I think to achieve that with stock turbo will require high boost and running e40 which will hinder the longevity of the motor

@@meicao6822 On our dynos, stage 2 turbos most you see about 210RWKW & 440NM on 98 RON get closer to 220-225RWKW on E85 with similar TQ to 98 RON stock and stage 2 turbos don't like very high boost anyways so no point pushing that and then stressing the rest of the system out
