I would do the following: - Design and 3D print honeycomb plastic mesh covers for both the "open" exposed to the air top and back of the case so that less dust can enter and to close the case, which would also allow the IO shield to be held in place. These plastic covers would have extruded semi-circles on both their top and bottom edges so that you could slide them onto the cylindrical rods that hold the glass side panel in place. - Adhesive magnetic tape around the top and front fan mounts and then a dust filter with adhesive magnetic tape to make it removable. - Add some rubber H channel and U channel to the gaps between the anodised orange part and the black aluminium top cover. The rubber H channel would be cut and glued onto the orange part only as it does not move so that the swinging black top cover can slot up and out and then back down into the rubber channel. - Some thin tinted red acrylic would be stuck to the back of the holes in the orange anodised part and the black top cover part, like small acrylic windows. The power supply would have to be moved too but I would need to see the case close up to figure that one out.
@mitthjarta57 жыл бұрын
holy shit, that's striking to say the least. clearly a dust magnet though, would probably be desirable to run an air filtration device in the same room.

Very good review. Instead of just bashing it, you provide good feedback to Cougar to make it better. HDD removable trays on the back of the mobo tray would be great. At this price it should be able to suport 2 @ 3.5 and 2@ 2.5 drives.

I very detailed casing review. But I wished you installed everything there is to put in, hdd, ssd, radiators, water cooling. It'll be interesting to see how far you can push this case, while giving your personal touch to this case as a finished build.

I think the front "dead zone" could be left for watercooling pumps and reservoirs, if that is way, with the tilted motherboard and leveled power supply, the pumps can be set at the lowest point of the loop easily, but you are right it won't help motherboard at all and lead to the question: why to hide the cooling loop when is actually one of the cool parts?

I have really considering this case because I love the design, but after the review, I'm thinking that it's not for me. Thanks for the honest review.
@theyehsohz7 жыл бұрын
6:13 I think you forgot that power supplies exhaust a lot of hot air depending on the capacity of the unit, the shield helps direct it.. otherwise it's going to rise straight into your GPU!

I/O shield plate helps to ground the motherboard to the case chassis and protects it from static electricity. Also isolates the components that need to be grounded like sound cards.
@mitthjarta57 жыл бұрын
Tyai Littol uhh pretty sure spacers more or less do that
@cb-vi3he6 жыл бұрын
You don't know wtf you're talking about. The I/O shield doesn't do shit except keep bugs from entering the system inside a normal tower, keyword: normal, that's why it's a called a "shield." The standoffs are what grounds your mobo. No point in using an I/O shield in this $350 open frame case (or any open frame case).

Io shield functional? Are we forgetting how they protect the mobo from plug-ins? Without it you can damage the rear connectors by putting in a USB or whatever a little too hard, especially over time. Obviously the trick Tom showed us here would be just for looks not protection, but in any other case I would argue they are very necessary, particularly for long term rigs or builds for other people

If it were me, i would rotate the mb tray so it mirrors the line along the top of the case and then move the psu to the lower bottom of the case, put it on its side so the fan points back. This would give radiator clearance front and back, give directed airflow over the mb components and also shunt the cabling from the psu to the side to go around the back. But all in all i can see where your going with its a case for inspiration but the price points these cases come out at and the open nature of them, i do wonder if its worth it for the ammount of modding your going todo as this would basically become a donar case instead of a build straight into just to fit your needs. Also the looks of it you have to wonder if they started off trying to build a watercooling case and then paniced that they needed to sell it as an air cooling case and we got this frankenstien as a result.

Looks like you can put a 360x30mm in the top and there is a pass-through at the back for fittings, then have the fans on the inside.
@myownalias7 жыл бұрын
At $300; there are far too many issues, for that sort of money, you'd expect it to be damn near perfect, I would consider myself a PC enthusiast, but I don't want to have to spend weeks modding the case to be able to use it. Not to mention the amount of cleaning you'd have to do to keep it looking good. Not to mention my cat is obsessed with sticking her face and paws into fans when I do have the front and side off my cases to clean them.

The design looks cool, but if you have room where are rugs etc. then it can really be filled inside with dusts. Not really good for the rooms where are rugs, animals etc., only in clean empty rooms.
@Texarmageddon6 жыл бұрын
Having carpeted rooms vs non carpeted rooms isn't going to change much.. I have a PC sitting in a room with Wooden floors and one in a bedroom... BOTH need regular cleaning schedules around the same time.
@NiteSek48045 жыл бұрын
Open air cases are going tp get dusty regardless. That's where an owner who isn't lazy & is willing to clean it with an air brush or something every week to two weeks comes in. Like, honestly. Dust isn't hard to clean. It blows or wipes right off lol... Dust isn't really a problem. The money you need to spend on a water cooled cpu & graphics card is more of what someone should be concerned about....... Unless of course your wealthy enough, but very lazy instead, then yh. Open is not for you.... Although,.. I don't think a lazy person really deserves to own such tech, considering that ALL pc's need a proper cleaning here & there eventually. So, the general moral of story the story is....... just be a responsible owner. This is a high maintenance case for crying out loud Lol

They could have put the PSU in that "dead space" ? For me, cable management is enough of a job when you can't see the other side, sheesh with both side view-able . My Core X9 is big, but you can throw lots of thick rads in it, that thing is big with radiator compatibility of a mid tower.
