He was setting up a pair of speakers for a potential customer so they could try them out. He was selling them fairly cheap. They were still like 35-40k for the pair. It doesn't really work like that. Everything you listen to, you innately pick up all the ways it doesn't sound like real life - stuff like this, there are no flaws to pick up which is why it's such a visceral response to it. It doesn't make other things worse, it's just that the only thing to criticize here is the cost of making no compromises.
@solkvist86684 жыл бұрын
You’d think that, but that’s where accuracy vs comfort comes into play. Really well tuned headphones are tiring to listen to, but a cheaper headphones with a more relaxed mix can be just as good or better depending what you are into. I have some solid gear (not on this tier or anything, but maybe $1000 for the whole rig) and it sounds beautiful, but I could throw on a pair of nice Bluetooth headphones that have a warmer mix and enjoy that just as much. I’d kill to try these (I’d probably bawl my eyes out), but I know it wouldn’t ruin that quality. Once you listen to that level for a while your brain just appreciates it instead of being surprised by how good it is. You saw that in the last clip when he put them back on and was truly able to absorb the beauty of what he was hearing.

A blind hearing test between common headphone models and these would be interesting. I feel like there is the possibility to be overwhelmed by the circumstance and monolithic nature of the abysses, as well as the possibility that the very ritual of setting up such a system may lead one to experience a bit of a placebo effect.

Definitely not a placebo, it's just something you've got to try to know.

Even if you dont wear expensive headphones. If you are a parent listening to the song he was, it can be quite emotional.

@@mikethebigo Dude you dont even know. He wrote the song in regret of how he lived his life during his oldest daughters young childhood and it is essentially a vow to do better with his daughters who were very young at the time. Months later, one of them was run over by freak accident in his driveway and killed and he didn't sing the song again for a long while after that.

I didn’t knew the Cinderella song but I can understand how phenomenal it sounds. I don’t want to experience it for the music, but for the experience which thoughts and emotions begin to roll inside of me
