Could a more aggressive PD investigation have prevented a tragedy?
Mica Miller threatened to send her estranged pastor husband to jail after he confronted her as she get her slashed tires fixed.
Mica, 30, was found dead in Lumbee River State Park in North Carolina on April 27 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
She took her own life days after serving her husband John Paul Miller, 44, with divorce papers, and police ruled it a suicide.
Miller is accused in court documents of grooming her for years before they wed and of committing her to a hospital to steal her car, which he also put a tracker on.
Mica called police at least eight times in the weeks leading up to her death, one of which was at East Coast Honda in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on March 11. (Daily Mail)

One of the (MANY) issues with narcissistic domestic abusers such as JP, is that they have very archaic views of the roles of men and women in society. They live in the past in their minds, but with a modern-day mask on and walk among us as wolves in sheep’s clothing. They are not up to date with modern-day civil or criminal law and so as long as they do not commit acts of physical violence against their targets, they do not see themselves as abusers. According to them, there is no such thing as emotional or psychological abuse. In fact, they secretly laugh at the idea of it and instead blame and portray their victims as the ‘crazy’ ones. Mica’s family are not going away or backing down and good for them. Rest in God’s Perfect Peace Mica 🙏 x

Sir, I absolutely agree with you. In my opinion he felt empowered because he knew nothing would happen. What I see is he was allowed to harass her until the end yet no arrest against him is extremely concerning. Once again my opinion: I believe there is cover-up because he holds the "pastor" name and connections.

I tell you I have seen what these pastors cans do. I'm Catholic and there have been hundreds of Priest that have done dirty deals with young kids. I had 4 girlfriends that went to the Pentecostal Church here in town. One of my friends said, we were freshman in high school and she babysat for him and his wife. She told me this pastor would walk around the house in his underwear every time she went to babysit before he would get dressed to go out with his wife. I told my friend and my other friends who went there , That is totally unacceptable. I told them to tell their parents and if their parents did not stop them from going over there I would tell all my dads Police friends what he was doing. They told their parents and never went back to his home again. I also told them that their parents need to find another church. This pastor was arrested 3 years later and his son married one of my friends and doing very deviant things even with animals. She came to me crying. I told her to tell her parents and the police. He was arrested also and was also accused of several things and theft of thousands of dollars along with his dad. They spent thousands of money that was donated for the new church. They both went to prison they got years in prison. I am thankful to God that my friends were spared from their dirty deads. I went with them at least once a month until they were both arrested. They knew I was telling my friends not to put up with things from either of them. I was just glad I was there for them. My friends were very sweet innocent girls. I was a farm and dairy raised girl who was sweet but tough and knew a lot more than my innocent friends I also told my parents which I think my dad told all his cop friends who were watching them when they got arrested and for even more than we knew. God Bless you and your family.

Remember the Tracey and Buck Thurmon story from 1983. Buck stabbed Tracey 13 times in front of police who just sat there and wouldn't help. When it was over, the cop finally called an ambulance. That was when police often treated domestic spousal violence as a personal matter between a married couple. Tracey's lawsuit against the police changed the way police responded to domestic abuse.

Also the medical profession should have investigated more. Also an investigation into his family, like how his father has a VISA contract with government for non accredited school... Also the lack of interference of church leaders. Where is the professionals working with him? Also the court should have given a protection order on the spot, the police should have requested. Why was her divorce denied?

Someone who has a protective order against him should not be a pastor! Too many people in this case that are culpable to her death and civil cases should be filed. Also, distinction w/ religion where you have a true, healthy relationship with God. This place was clearly a religious cult in some form with too many people looking the other way. He should have been in jail a long time ago. Sadly someone lost their life because of no one helping her. What a shame. Love you and your channel Bill. Thanks for all you do.

This guy is a narcissistic for sure, I live with one and I just could imagine the abuse she went through. He gaslighted her for years, making her believe it’s her fault, she is the problem, not him. 😢 It’s so difficult to get out of these relationships as True Crime followers only know too well. They cheat, thinking they have the right.

Don't blame the dispatcher. Blame the people who allowed an improperly trained and unqualified person to work this position. She will have to live with this for the rest of her life. This same agency overlooked his behavior repeatedly. Much of the blame belongs to their lack of oversight or failure to intervene in a potential disastrous ending with what was a consequence of their failure to protect this poor woman.

They're cowards. My opinion. But yes, a person's inner circle like family can be afraid to intervene due to threats, whether verbally or non verbally by an abuser. Mica loved her family and may have wanted to protect them. This is intimate abuse in every sense and needs our professional authorities to step up. Believe them when they tell you they are afraid of someone, and why. Take steps to help them. Please. God bless this channel.

Perhaps the police thought that arresting him would remove him from the church, and break up the church and the congregation. Perhaps they were waiting for him to cross a particular line, such as a physical assault, because they didn’t want to upset the community without an extremely damning attack. This sounds like it might be viewed as a he said/she said situation. Had he not been a pastor, they might have acted more quickly. Just a thought.

Bill, this is not a Pastor. He is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. I attend a Baptist church, and someone like John Paul Miller would have been brought up on church discipline. If he didn’t comply with the discipline which is usually Biblical counseling, he would have been excommunicated. Religion isn’t the problem. People have problems in and out of the church.
