Sekiro states that the eternal dragon came from the west. Elden ring (being medieval European themed) would be to the west and it may be possible that the dragon god who fled from the lands between (placidusax’s consort) is the one who plagues the lands of Sekiro. I also find it interesting that the eternal dragon brings “dragon rot” to the lands of Ashina

I believe all the games give a hint to the ties of all the games. The fire keeper in DS3 even said should we choose not to light the flame, eventually someone would come along and do it. The Souls Saga at this point probably does have a definite timeline (IMO), with Bloodborne being the last in line. You could say this is literally....a tale of souls and swords, eternally retold.

You know it always was interesting to me that one ending in Demon’s Souls had the Eldritch entity of a last boss consume the world in mist, and then Dark Souls began as a world consumed by mist, and then Bloodborne set technologically after a medieval age in a more Victorian setting had a land overcome by the blood of an Eldritch entity……..

Oh, there's a lot more than that. The Old One consumes all the souls. The old one looks like a bunch of kindling. There's a very good chance that the Old One is the first flame. Someone (a certain pyromancer with a known MO for making copies of first flames) set it on fire and presto, all the souls in the world can now be accessed. Byond even that, the Old One looks like an Ulcerated Tree Spirit on Steroids. There are roughly a million ways you could transition Elden Ring into Demon's Souls that make perfect sense

Just off the top of my head, Bloodborne can be explained simply with the Eldritch Truth and Oedon. The Eldritch Truth IS the ultimate truth that the world of Bloodborne is a painted world, which is why so many dreamworlds exist- and they exist because countless beings have either partially or truly ascended into great ones; the ultimate great one being Oedeon, the formless great one who shares communion of blood, who Mohg knows as the FORMLESS MOTHER (great ones have no definitive sex because they're multidimensional beings that transend the plane of existence) of BLOOD. The moonlight greatsword is the other constant because they all have something to do with the infinity and guidance of the cosmos. I could go on for hours about this

Also, would love to see a video on Hewg at some point! I noticed an interesting detail not long ago that I had never picked up on before. Not about Hewg himself, but about the Elden Beast, which appears to have an old wound on its chest during our fight with it. It made me wonder if Marika actually battled the Beast as well at some point?? That could explain her own injuries when we see her, as well as the similarity between the trap she is held in and one of the Elden Beast's attacks during our fight with it Maybe that was the point of shattering the Elden Ring in the first place! To draw out the Beast so she could slay it... with a weapon forged by Master Hewg, who told her it would be strong enough to kill a god but, in the end, obviously wasn't. And that is why his punishment is to be trapped in the Roundtable Hold until he finally succeeds at what he promised her so long ago

IMO, the worlds of Fromsoft games have the same... Origin. They all have the same, primordial essence, the Prima Materia. So in Darksouls, this Prima Materia is found by Gwyn. He uses it and forms a world based around Fire. In Elden Ring we see the same thing. A prima materia, being controlled by a god. And they set the rules for the world. The Order. The god decide what is and isn't going to be part of the world. (I assume with the blessings of the two fingers) You dont want it to rain? Take the Rain Rune out of the Elden Ring. You don't want your giant tree to burn? Leave the Rune of Fire with the Fire Giants. You dont want to die? (Or rather you don't want your son to die) Well actually, see that part of the Ring holds the rest together so you cant just *shatter* you cant just take out death without breaking the whole thing.... the only issue here is that we basically know what came pre Dark Souls. Demon's Souls was killed off by Sony so the bad ending is canonical. In the bad ending the Old One devours all the souls and rests while the world is consumed by mist. The old one looks like kindling and it's filled to the brim with souls and it enveloped the world in mist. If we can make the assumption that the Witch of Izalyth was a pyromancer even before getting a Lord's soul, it's pretty easy to see that she set the Old One on fire and this created the First Flame. Not only does the story fit pretty well, it's also a well known fact that Demon's Souls is the spiritual predecessor of Dark Souls and its hardly a stretch to think that Dark Souls was supposed to be an actual sequel that had it's direct references removed. Elden Ring, if it is a prequel, would need to go before Demon's Souls, which isn't exactly hard to make work given that the main antagonist looks like a roided up Ulcerated Tree Spirit and is a cosmic being worshiped by humans. Given that Elden Ring might very well get a sequel, there might be an even more direct connection established eventually.

It's really fun to come up with these theories, I enjoy them alot But The reality of it here is that From Software, which is to say Hidetaka Miayazaki, has a writing formula. I think the reason why all the games are similar and seem connected is simply because Miayazaki has very specific themes he likes and very particular story telling elements he likes to re-use. Because he's making the game for himself as much as he is for other people. He's a true artist, he's not necessarily doing is for the sake of pleasing others and that's why we can see that all the games he has directed have the same kind of Soul to them
@NeoHellPoet2 жыл бұрын
Counterpoint. Dark Souls being an unofficial sequel to Demon's Souls isn't exactly a stretch so it's hardly difficult to accept that rather than the bad Demon's ending fitting really well with the beginning of Dark Souls being coincidence, it's cannon that got removed because of legal reasons. Equally important is the fact that Bloodborn has the exact same limitation and the very last DLC of the very last Dark Souls game is centered on getting blood, something that was never a theme of the game, for the express purpose of making a brand new world. Sekiro and Elden Ring, here I can be convinced in ether direction, but Soulsborn really seems to be intentionally connected, even though it legally isn't allowed to be.
@SevenPr1me2 жыл бұрын
@@NeoHellPoet why would it be illegal for games by the same company written by the same people to be connected?
@NeoHellPoet2 жыл бұрын
@@SevenPr1me Sony owns the IP of Demon's and has some kind of exclusivity deal for Bloodborn. Basically they can't make a Demon's Souls game exept with Sony's blessing any more than they could make a Call of Duty title. They can obviously make a game that's similar in story, atmosphere and gameplay, but they need to be separate games. They could get away with some things like the Moonlight greatsword and Patches being in both, because the former is from Kings Field and the latter from Armored Core, but the rest are just this side of being safe. If you have any doubts, look up who made the Demon's Souls remake. From was completely uninvolved and Sony could, if they wanted to, make Demon's Souls 2. IP is no joke and if I were to speculate, Bloodborn was From making sure that Sony wouldn't give them grief over Dark Souls. Walking away from the Souls brand altogether might also be them wanting to wipe the slate clean, though that one I'm not really convinced of

Much like the wear upon the shield, the Seat of the Sun is long faded away" meaning if it is a reference to Anor Londo then it happened in ER's past not future and the bonfires in Dark Souls are supposed to be an undead human dying repeatedly in the fire that's connected to the 1st flame, thats why giving it humanity in the 1st game gives you more estus, the poker is supposed to be just that, a poker to stoke the flames. I remember reading the same thing about creating your own bonfires in DS3. I think the idea was that you could make a bonfire out of a fallen enemy's body - letting you as a player decide where your checkpoints were going to be. Not sure how this would have worked in practice, maybe the idea was you collected coiled swords to create a bonfire and used them as a consumable item? so if you say, had 5 coiled swords in your inventory then you could potentially make 5 bonfires? I remember at the time thinking this was a cool concept when I heard about it
@rafael8946 Жыл бұрын
@@paulevans6076 Nah, you got the system entirely wrong, you probably heard that from Vaati's cut content video, but, don't trust everything he says, most stuff is purely his own headcanon, instead, think of his videos as a "base" for your own theories, ok, so I have talked to a modder that is trying to bring the Alpha content of Dark Souls 3 back as a mod and he said to me that the system that Yoel has with leveling the player up is sort of a "refined" system of what bonfire sacrifice was going to be like. So it plays like this: there was supposed to be an item probably either a coiled sword or the most probable option, the sword that soul of cinder or the player character uses in the cinematic intro. With this item, the undead player could cremate special enemies to level up to a limited amount of times.

It's why we keep seeing reoccurring characters and concepts between games. On top of that we have moments where we can see massive trees stretching out into the distance like in Ash Lake in Dark Souls, the Hunters Dream in Bloodborne, and in the arena where we fight the Elden Beast at the end of Elden Ring. I kinda agree with this vid but I feel the biggest piece of dialog that connects elden ring to DS is a sentence from Melina “The one who walks alongside flame, shall one day meet the road of Destined Death” and I feel that describes the journey of linking the flame because at the beginning you are ash chasing the ember or flame and by the end you sacrifice yourself for the flame
@Miriam_J_2 жыл бұрын
Idk, Melina is stated to be the Kindling Maiden and she herself says she is burnt and bodyless. To me, this sounds like she was the flame we walked alongside and destined death is extremely tied to her character. Her entire purpose is to get us to the rune of death (destined death). Why would she suddenly be talking about something the player knows nothing about? It would be really lame if it ended up being a throwaway Easter egg line and not symbolism for the journey you went through with your fake Maiden. Kinda takes away from her death scene if she's talking about some other random disconnected event.

I believe she accidentally burned herself alive during her battle to protect destined death, much like how Melania is shown to not be able to fully control her roth until she becomes a full goddess. Her duty as a demi god was to keep the cycle of death going. After being burnt, she finds that the cycle has been broken. She then spends our journey leading us back to what she was supposed to originally protect, the job her mother had trusted her with. Holding the rune of death. Her newfound purpose, maybe to make up for all those she's burned. Also, to bring a little more to this, the rune of death is surrounded by red black flame, making the connection a bit stronger.

I'm slowly making my way through the souls games. It's my understanding that demons souls ending (either) results in the creation of the world of dark souls as a separate world. Miyazaki countered GRRM since he himself stated that the IPs are separate. The Sacred Relic and Coiled look similar but I think they have enough distinction to be separate. The games are all about cycles but Elden Ring is specifically is a much more lighthearted game, the endings mostly hint toward different ways for the world to continue. FromSoft as a whole is known for their heavy referencing to their other games but always with distinct differences, for example in Elden Ring the Land of Reeds is implied to be under the influence of the Formless Mother(Outer god of blood basically) because they are locked in a blood-crazed civil war with no end. I enjoyed this theory even if it is a little out there but at the end of the day it's more than likely references since we have Miyazaki himself stating that the IPs are separate, GRRM did also say he wrote his little snippets about the lore and stuff a long time ago and that it changed a lot from what he originally wrote, this was said in an interview.

Very cool theory, these games definitely have to be loosely connected. I keep thinking back to the final ending of the DS3 DLC where the little girl talks about making a new painted world where everyone will live in peacefully. There's definitely lots of hints and open ended ways these games could be sequels/prequels/alternate dimensions of each other. Got great lore videos, helping make this world make some sense, haha.

Also, looking at the endings, all the endings could have a connection to all Fromsofts games. For example the frenzied flame ending leading to dark souls, burning the world away, the age of ancients, and fire being found again.

The two swords (coiled and sacred relic) are twisted in totally different ways, the sacred relic is two pieces twisted together but the coiled sword is twisted like a twizzler. Also just because George r r Martin said it would be a "sequel" it doesn't mean the games story is set inside the world of darksouls. It's definitely a spiritual successor especially because it used an improved version of the same engine and many reused assets

My theory is that the order of games are- Demon Souls - Massive timeskip - Sekiro - Bloodborne - Elden Ring - Dark Souls 1 - Dark Souls 2 - Dark Souls 3. A key thing to note is that dark souls takes place below Elden ring and sekiro. In demon souls the ending doesn’t necessarily matter, just remember the creator for later and the body of the old one has the arch trees AKA Erdtrees grow from it. In Sekiro not much really matters just know that this takes place in the east of the lands between AKA the land of reeds, also there is an argument to be made that Ishin is the person who trained malenia. Bloodborne, true ending, doll takes the new outer god to the lands between which will later become the 5 fingers and be possessed by the creator. Elden ring the Creator from demon souls (which happened millions of years ago as of now) inhabits the 5 fingers being known as the greater will, greater will shatters, next you get the frenzied flame, the frenzied flame burns the arch/erdtree. Dark Souls, the embers from the burning erdtree drift down to the bottom of the world creating fire, the souls lost in that fire also drift down with the embers. From there on the DS1 - 2 - 3 are a consecutive timeline where the world ends in DS3. In short the soulsbourne series is about letting the world die. Ironic that Miyazaki makes the true story actually kill your character as much as the game itself.

One sprinkle from me ... Notice that Elden Ring has 3 types of ending ... there is Elden Lord ending (repeating the cycle), Age of Stars (new cycle yet simillar, kinda like age of darkness in Dark Souls beeing ending without linking the flame), and Lord of Frenzied Flame what is basically burning entire world in flames. What if Frenzied flame is the first flame from dark souls? What if our choise to burn the world gives Gwyn his power and allows world of Dark Souls to stand on ruins of Elden Rings world?

All games can be connected if you do an insane headcanon, so many concepts repeat, the Fog that started in demon’s, continued in DS and now we cross it in ER. Dragon’s being the main species before the “humans”, the absorption of souls, runes, blood echos, etc. But let’s be honest, connecting games is simply for fun, nothing is gained or lost by having the games connected.
@JustTooDamnHonest Жыл бұрын
They are connected due to them being part of the Dark Souls genre of video games(not everything has to connect within universe). But the connection here is very much linked through a cycle of reincarnation and decay.

I'm definitely of the opinion that Elden Ring is a prequel, if anything, to the Dark Souls series. Mostly because the fire continues to fade and you fight Gael at the actual end of time when the fire has presumably been reduced to hardly anything but ash. We literally see the end of the world in the Dark Souls series. And on that point it's fun to imagine that maybe your character in Elden Ring is some incarnation of Gwyn that lived and died as an Elden Lord that just riled shit up enough that their soul was chosen as a god to begin a whole different cycle, but that also gives credit to the idea that Elden Ring could just as much be a whole new cycle after Dark Souls as much as the other way around.

-Golden Order = Gywns Lord Soul in Dark Souls -Fell God = The Witch of Isiliths Lord Soul in Dark Souls -Destined Death/ The Lord of the Deathbirds = Nitos Lord soul in Dark Souls -The Sealed God of Scarlet Rot = The Rot that takes over the painting in Dark Souls/ potentially the undead curse itself -Rannis Moon Lord = The Dark Soul in Dark Souls, synonymous with the unknown -Frenzy Flame = The First Flame in Dark Souls where all the Lord Souls came from once they all regressed back together -The Formless Mother = The God that was once the Crucible potentially spawning everything hence blood being inside all -The Dragon God = The Divine Dragon in Sekiro -The Blood Star = The Great One’s from Bloodborne Don’t necessarily know if this is true however it does share very very very close themes with each of these across all games

I think the most solid teory is that Bloodborne is the paint that did the painter with the blood of the dark souls in Ds3, I mean, literally the principal point of Bloodborne is the blood

I like the idea that these worlds aren't directly connected, but more of the idea of parallel worlds/times. That due to one choice in prehistory makes the divergence. How is this relevant? Well, take the sword for an example. It's a fixed point. It occurs in each version but slightly different.
@chrisd5564 Жыл бұрын
I personally feel that elden ring links all the games together through the 6 possible endings. Since time is extremely convoluted in all the games it makes sense especially when you think about the fact that you find certain weapons in basically every game, meeting Chester in the artorias of the abyss dlc (he is basically a hunter in a world without guns who was “snatched up” by a mysterious hand and taken back in time) the gods/great ones in the games are benevolent beings and something that is repeated throughout all the games new game+ when you think about that you can somewhat think about the fact that everything is a perpetual cycle of life, death, and resurrection. Dark souls 1 and 3 are linked through certain locations and listening to the dialogue and item descriptions you realize it is possible that ds2 is a dreamlike world in between 1 and 3 the fact that solaire speaks to you about the multiple worlds and how they are connected shows this. The ages of fire and dark lead to the chosen undead, the bearer of the curse, the unkindeled ash, the tarnished and the hunters of blood borne are all a random insignificant being who by chance is on a pre destined path that will lead to many different endings. There are so many links and similarities between every game!
@Karma-ji6ud Жыл бұрын
My theory? We don't know yet. Until Miyazaki decides to connect the worlds, they're separate and the only connections we'll ever be able to find until then are references to each game.
@lordtrinen2249 Жыл бұрын
I see where you're coming from but I still subscribe to the theory that Demon's Souls was the first in the timeline with the "bad" ending as the canon one. Dark Souls trilogy happens next with the Firekeeper extinguishing the flame. Bloodborne happens in the new painted world being made with the blood of the Dark Soul and Elden Ring happens in the outside world after the Age of Dark ends. Haven't played Sekiro yet so not sure where it fits in.

It's an interesting irony that games hint connection to each other while Fromsoft claims that none of the game are connected. Maybe they are planning a big Avengers level game or just f'king with us, or it's simply easter eggs.
@lloydthesage11645 ай бұрын
I think Elden Ring is a prequel because of the sword as you said, and also in DS they said the Dragon ruled at the beginning and the undead was underground, as we see in Elden Ring, Human and Dragon was flourishing alike, and maybe many years down the line the Dragons took over and the human race doomed underground until they found the fire and fought back along with the weird new species Like Nito and others. Then a new age darkness and fire was created where everything looks like a ruin unlike Elden Ring where the Land in between looks colorful.

Ok I got kinda an insane theory about the lands between and the erdtree once someone dies in the lands between there soul is sent back to the erdtree, and reborn, this makes me think that the lands between is the place BETWEEN the bonfires, like a LINK between them, for example when you die in Dark Souls you respawn at a bonfire, this could be your soul travelling through the bonfire into the lands between to be reborn through the erdtree, and when you teleport through the bonfires, you could also choose to come to the lands between as a tarnished who has lost there light of life, after all the were all warriors once as stated in the lore. it could also explain why there are so many enemies in elden ring that are in dark souls, like the basilisk. this is pretty crazy of a theory so if your gonna criticize i'm probably not gonna listen so save your fingers (pun intended)

Elden Ring is definitely the prequel to all the other soulsborne games. It's a theory I choose to believe is real lol. Ranni's Ending leads into Bloodborne, Frenzied Flame being Dark Souls and then the normal ending being Sekiro.

Edit: i should watch the entire video before ranting. Glad to see i'm not crazy and someone else agrees with it. Liked and subbed :D. I like your Sacred Relic Sword tangent, i'm sure it's referencing the DS3 coiled sword to lighy bonfires, but the Secret Relic Sword text is most likely hinting to NG+ mechanic "the end of an era and the start of a new one". Since this is a last boss weapon, it can only be enjoyed fully in NG+. I personally think that the Sacred Relic Sword has instead of a handle a body with 2 hands and the 2 spiraling metal strings start coiling where the head would be, representing Radagon and Marika: 2 minds in 1 body. If you watch the cinematic closely when defeating Radagon and the Elden Beast spawns, the Elden Beast has its' right hand over Radagon's fallen body. Elden Beast uses the same hand to pull the Sacret Relic Sword just a few moments afterwards. This is my own crackpot theory so take it with a grain of salt (though others noticed the handle resembling a body as well)

It's been a while but IMO It all connects with Demon Souls. Demon Souls brings the First Great one or "outer god" to the world which is the embodiment of magic. In that game we either Kill magic itself which leads to Bloodborne, or we slumber it which leads to dark souls. This splits the time-line. We see in the hunters dream the pillars in the distance. I think the pillar trees in darksouls where the eternal dragons live is in the dream of the first old one and each pillar "tree" is it's own universe or reality and dark souls takes place in between these spaces. Elden ring shows you how these pillar "trees" come to be and how outer gods fight to shape that particular reality or world until all starts existing inside the tree and it becomes one of the stone tree like pillars we're used to seeing.

Stopped at 4:00 minutes to offer this hot take, since we're going down the rabbit hole: Assuming the Relic Sword/Coiled Sword are one and the same, what if the ashes we plunge it in within the Dark Souls setting are indeed part of the ashen remnants of the Erdtree..? I'm in the same boat as you with believing that multiple Fromsoft series are tied together, but I believe the chronology isn't exactly linear, and that the events of Elden Ring may likely predate the entire Dark Souls series. I may amend this comment after finishing the video, just wanted to drop this here while I had it in mind. EDIT: Okay, just finished. So, continuing to expand on the ideas in this video, here's my theory: The Lands Between represent a higher plane of existence than any of the locations present in the Dark Souls universe. I believe they could be most likened to Valhalla, or Heaven, or some similar concept, yet here The Lands Between are a physical location that can be accessed by certain individuals who know how to do so. Our character - the Tarnished (representing humanity, I believe) - is an outsider, perhaps from some kingdom found in the Souls series, and is told that they have been sent to become the new Elden Lord; but going by what we see from multiple characters in the story however, we can see that our character was more likely being set up as a convenient distraction or a patsy at best, yet they somehow exceed expectations and seize the throne. I believe due to our actions, burning the Erdtree, slaughtering all of the other Elden Lords, and upsetting the balance of the Lands Between (and probably most importantly - Marika's fiddling with Destined Death), that the lower castes - those denizens of the Dark Souls universe (essentially, all of humanity) - are cursed with the Darksign (perhaps etched with the ash of the Erdtree, a mark of the sin inherited from the Tarnished's actions), eventually causing the vast majority of the world to fall into undeath, disrepair, and decay. The only boon man is granted is a flickering fragment of the flame in this new world of darkness, and the 'chance' to live and die eternally (likely thanks to Marika). Now you may wonder why the supposed worshippers in this dynamic would be affected, and not the worshipped, but I believe besides one obvious solution ('flying too close to the sun'), there's actually an alternative reason for that; in many stories and settings, a God or God-like being simply cannot exist without feeding off of the faith of those that worship them. They will eventually weaken, then wither and fade into nothing. We do see Elden Lords trying to besmirch or poach believers from one another at some point(s), I'm pretty sure... I'd also go as far to guess that the 'Gods' of Elden Ring are worshipped under different names by the characters of the Dark Souls setting; and perhaps that single 'Gods' may even represent multiple individuals that are being worshipped. More faith = more power. And think about how many times we hear about other Tarnished that have come before us - how many have gone to The Lands Between and died, their last spark of life empowering a Godlike entity's ego as they realize that their power was all too real. I mean, we certainly see stacks of bodies in some boss arenas! That's my take, anyway, flawed as it may be - because I know there's some big holes in it. Sorry for the lengthy ramble, but it's fun to think about how these things could be connected! (Lore Side Note: in King's Field 2 (released as KF1 in the U.S.) it's said that the giants were wiped out in the lands of Verdite. In Dark Souls we face 'The Last Giant'. There obviously seems to be some correlation there, and there are a few other lore threads between the two games that could potentially link together, but I've gone on long enough already!!!)
