If the dates are right for a potential Bully 2 and Gerry Rosenthal returns as an older Jimmy Hopkins one point in the game’s story - perhaps as a mentor of sorts for the new protagonist, then Rockstar will have done made the equivalent of the legacy sequel that’s been all the rage in Hollywood recently. Well, legacy and standalone sequels are what’s been popular lately between Top Gun: Maverick and Twisters.

At the end of Bully, Crabblesnitch says Pete should be the head boy, maybe he's the headmaster, Jimmy could've been in charge of the Prefects for a while but decides to leave and eventually the school falls back into chaos and Jimmy reluctantly returns for a brief period in the game to show the new main character a few things. Maybe some of the students could be the kids of previous characters, and you can overhear rumors about Gary

To be honest, I already talked about the possibilities, and Rockstar would most probably just go for making franchises they know will earn them money, like GTA or RDR. Of course everything is possible. And it is still possible we would get Bully 2. In fact, they can even try to go with the same route they went while converting from Red Dead Revolver into Redemption. This way they can avoid the gap between both developments. The problem I have is the fact that... it most probably wont be the same game we loved so much. Think about it that way. There is no way they will go for an oldschool "any kids game" cliche, and not specify the time and date on purpose again. The game would almost 100% certainly be set in modern times. And here is where trouble begin. Original Bully had got no cellphones at all. This may sound silly, but thats the factor that pretty much made this game what it is. Think about it, with having possibilities cellphones can give us: - news traveled slowly, and many missions were about being ambushed. We were basically saving the day in the very last minute. - same way lots of info couldnt have been transferred quickly. Imagine Peter texting Jimmy during "Making the mark" that its all a trap, and the whole Academy is upside down. It carries on and on. - if someone was to be ashamed in front of the whole school, it would happen instantly, because of easy access to cameras and social media. Jimmy would have no time to turn things around. - Dr Crabblesnitch would succesfully call Jimmys mom, and expell him instantly - to keep stuff real, most kids would be sitting in front of their smartphones and watch tiktok, instead of going around campus, interacting with each other, going to town and so on. - and to top it all off, Jimmy would most probably record doing some of his vandalism and pranks in order to gain respect, and that would be the fuel for Gary's actions, who would happily turn him over to authorities. Without it, he didnt had evidence needed to sack Jimmy, he could only spread a word, which ultimately failed. And its only the tip of the iceberg. I could carry on about different technologies, school cliques slowly dying in modern times (maybe not entirely, but have you seen a single greaser anywhere???), the general atomisation and alienation that is on a much higher level nowadays, people protesting about diversity, and so on... Long story short, I feel that Bully 2 will be a completely different game. And this is why Im not so hip about the subject anymore

Honestly I’ve wondered what happens after the main story in Bully, I mean Jimmy’s reputation at the school is fixed but at the beginning of the story his mom tells him he’s going to be at the boarding school for a year. Do they actually pick him up, (the principal even said he was unable to contact her after he’s expelled) so what happens. I’ve always wondered because the ending isn’t really an ending and there’s still plot points that are left open

You're on your own with that opinion. As good as the original Bully is, the graphics, animations, mechanics, controls and combat are outdated. And that applies not just to Bully but to any other game of that era. A Bully 2 with realistic graphics under the RAGE engine would be a dream.

I feel like it was a wasted opportunity to cease the development of the phase 1 version of Bully 2 because releasing around 2012-2013 would've been the most ideal time in an era of GTA V and The Last of Us, there were a lotta great ideas and a solid premise that followed up seamlessly with the original, doing a continuation of Jimmy's story seems unlikely now because of how far the gap is today from Bully's release that I doubt Rockstar will pick up where they left off A sequel by 2028 just seems pointless to me at this point because so much time has passed and people are aging, Bully's popularity not being as high as what it was in the PS3 era

Frankly I don't want it until these studios course correct. Even GTA VI could underperform significantly if it's too skewed to the dreaded "Modern Audience" that we're told exists. Even though every game that tries to appeal to it has flopped massively. I don't think GTA VI will flop, but it could fall short of expectations. Considering the absurdly bloated dev time and money they sunk into it, that would still be a huge black eye for Rockstar at the gaming industry.

Crazy to think rockstar most likely already began early concept and talks for their next game after gta 6. As we know, rockstar begin talks of their next game about a year or 2 before their soon to be released game, i.e rdr2 began early talks around 2011/ 2012, with Gta 5 release 2013.

Unfortunately there is nothing that can be done now. They cant revert back to ps2 graphics and make the game in 2-3 years or most of the fanbase will be angry. They will start saying “why am I paying $70+ for a ps2 game?”. Casuals ruined it. Nintendo was right to never bring their IP’s into this hyperrealistic space. Thats why Nintendo first party games are all timeless. You arent taken aback by a reduction in graphical output. Imagine if GTA 7 came out in 2028 lets say but looked like Vice City. Casual fans would be outraged and call Rockstar “lazy”. Even though it would be the smart thing for them to do by resetting expectations on these games making them easier to make. It's cool to look in the real-lives of characters but it can be so boring as we're in the real world with problems. Also characters lose aura from that stuff. There's reasons why CJ, Tommy Vercetti and Jimmy Hopkins are remembered years later because we don't delve very deep into their lives. People want to see Jimmy's relationship with his mum when we already know he has problems with his mum and is all we want to know or else the badassness of Jimmy Hopkins kinds of wears off. I'm sick of seeing that in newer games. Trying to make us relate to these characters or a close to real life scenario of life instead of close but hilariously sattire version of it. No wonder Bully and san andreas made me feel better then playing max Payne 3. Which is alright but exhausting. I think even GTA 5 knows this and probably why I love it.

My dream game would be Either a Pirate game or Acient Rome game by Rockstar after GTA6 Then Bully 2 by that point the tech should be good enough to make something Ground breaking with NPCs then RDR3 then Bring Back Agent then do LA Noirs 2 followed by Manhunt 3 and Finally GTA7. Unfortunately, Rockstar is not one of those companies that listens to the needs of their customers. Even though I would like to see Bully return, I cannot imagine that Rockstar even has this game on their radar. The game was released in 2006? It may have sold well, but compared to the games in the GTA or RDR series, Bully was a drop in the ocean commercially. RDR came out in 2010 and its successor 8 years later. GTA, the most established brand, may have taken 12 years to release its latest offspring, but in the meantime they have made a fortune with GTA Online. That's how Rockstar thinks. They will not re-release a game from 2006 just because a few aging gamers like us who are a bit nostalgic want it. They will calculate which development will bring them billions again, and apart from GTA, the only option is a new Read Dead Redemption. Otherwise, they would have released Bully 2 when it was in development instead of canceling it, because back then the game was still well known and therefore less of a business risk than it is now.
